It’s been 31 hours since I’ve seen electricity. Oh the joys of Eskom. That said it was the flooding on the south coast that just fucked a 60’ish km stretch, and sent us back into the industrial age
Hi everyone. Feels good to be back. Bit of a story to follow.
On 22 May I woke up the morning with abdominal pain and went to the doc thinking it’s some 24hour stomach bug. Got some drugs, went home.
Next day the pain was worse and more localized on the right side. Went back to the doc who sent me for a sonar that showed some inflammation on the intestines, but appendix was not visible. To play it safe, got admitted to hospital to do a CT scan.
On the morning of the 25th the CT showed the appendix was pretty much dead already and started seeping “stuff” into my abdomen. At this stage the pain was quite severe. Got taken to theatre for an emergency appendectomy where they had to open me with a 20-25cm cut, vertically next to the belly button. Probably to be able to wash me out inside.
From this point on the next 10 days blur into one a bit because I developed a gastric obstruction twice where they had to re-open me, I received a nasogastric tube twice to drain my stomach to help with the constant vomiting and spend 4 days on parenteral nutrition (intravenous feeding).
Since about the 5th of June I’ve been doing OK with only a drip and a wound v.a.c. machine with irrigation attached to the stomach, as apparently it developed an infection. So far I’ve been to theatre 8 times, first 3 were for surgeries, the rest to scrape the wound and replace the v.a.c dressing. Got a “weekend pass” to come home for father’s day with the machine still attached, but have to report back to hospital on Monday for another dressing change theatre visit. Will then probably stay in hospital until they decide it’s time to close me up.
Overall feeling positive, but a little weak and drained. One other positive is that I quite smoking, because I pretty much couldn’t for 3 weeks.
My biggest gripe with this whole episode is that I completely missed the Diablo 4 launch. I was planning on caving and coughing up to play early access.
That’s hectic man, glad that you are on the mend and have some time out of hospital. That’s a very serious ordeal to have come through
Whoa. That sounds like a really rough couple of weeks there. Glad to hear that you’re on the road to recovery and staying positive. And the quitting smoking is a big bonus too. Stay strong.
Greets to the gang.

Good morning everyone.
Flippen hell, what a ride! Sounds like you don’t need Diablo, you’ve been through hell already! Glad to hear that everything is going relatively well now, stay strong!
Hey, what’s up everyone? Was browsing through the MyGaming forums ouf nostalgia and came across some good (and other not so good ) memories. Thought I’d check in here to see how everyone is doing.
Welcome back!
Morning all. Happy Father’s Day to all who are called Dad, and to all you call Dad.
Morning all.
Good morning friendos! Happy Monday! Hope you enjoyed the long weekend. The next one is only at the end of September.
Afternoon all
What a day
Between rain, accidents, trees falling on cars, I am just glad to be home safe
Good afternoon folks! Hope the start to the week is treating you all well!
Not yours I hope?!
Luckily it happened about 10mins before I got on the M3 - so we joined the chaos and managed to get off the M3 at the next turnoff before it was mental.
Wow, that’s hectic! Massive tree - hope those occupants are okay.
That is just one of many that fell all over with the storm winds we have been having.
There is still localised flooding all over, its scary!
Apparently they were extracted and just a few broken bones
Hope everyone had a great monday!
Today was tarantula feeding day. Always the highlight of my week.
Chews day greetings.
