Greetings from Centurion, Johannesburg.
No no.
No no no no no.
Centurion != Johannesburg. There’s a whole Midrand between the two. As a Pretorianer I am obliged to inform you the from the Northern side of Gauteng to the south, it goes Pretoria, Centurion, Midrand, Johannesburg. This is also the order when you look at it from best to worst. Scientific fact.
Also, welcome
haha I knew someone would get triggered
Also, I know little about the playland so thanks for the info.
Welcome to Gauteng @Beo
Oh and a side question, anyone also ever felt particularly hungry after an exam?
While the brain represents just 2% of a person's total body weight, it accounts for 20% of the body's energy use
I am not normally one for complaining, but it feels like it is all coming together at once.
Approaching 48 hours with virtually no power. There has been 2 or 3 stints of half an hour of power.
When the power did come on last night just before the F1, I was happy. Then everything went dead, including my backup power. Turns out my inverter is not passing Eskom power through to the house so o ly my NON essential items were on. Also, it wont charge the batteries with Eskom power.
Then this morning I get someone out to investigate, and turns out my batteries are also dead. Gel batteries lasted me almost 9 years!
Luckily the solar panels kept the fridge running today so no rotten food… But I ate the ice cream anyway, just to be safe.
So we are sitting in the dark, everything except the wifi and fridge off. I am about to turn the wifi off because every 5 minutes someone on Whatsapp is asking when the power will be back on…
That sounds awful. But hey, at least you had ice cream! Meanwhile, here we are revelling in the fourth day without any load shedding at all.
Is the inverter repairable? 9 years sounds like a decent run for gel batteries (he said, very ignorantly). Hope you see the light soon.
Geez, Oltman, empathise. We’ve been there, had a stint of 4 days without power, that caused me to go and buy a decent sized gennie back in 2015.
@Greg I think he’s implying that the current batteries didn’t last nearly as long as the gel batteries did, even though it should last longer. With that and the power not passing through, it sounds more like the inverter was set up incorrectly. This is happening more and more these days. Father-in-law had it happen, and two seperate bossmen had it happen.
Morning all.
Aloha.
Morning all
greetings
my gel batteries barely lasted 2 years
Good morning all.
Have a malfunctioning inverter at work. Boss refuses to get it fixed. It can only run in island mode. Any time you flip the breaker to connect to the grid it trips. Also been through 2 sets of Gel AGM batteries and now on a Lithium battery. Running like this shows just how important batteries are to a solar system. Battery runs out every night at about 2AM. Probably not good for the server.
Nice, I thought you were visiting the big smoke though.
Morning all. Happy day of the hump.
Yello
Good afternoon.
