Yes, thankfully max temp today is 20, chill indeed!
Morning all
We’re up to 28 today, but with the strong (and cold) south-easter blowing it doesn’t feel that way. I love the sound of the wind howling past our house. There’s a narrow alley created by our driveway and the neighbouring house, with a very high retainer wall and lots of trees behind that create this funnel that amplifies the wind blowing past.
It makes even the slightest breeze sound like a hurricane coming through and, with windows open, creates a very cool draft through the house. Even at the height of the current summer we’ve never regretted not installing a/c in our new house. Not that we had the budget for it anyway.
The amount of dust that comes with it though. I literally slid my bare-foot across the tiled lounge floor and there was a pile of dirt from the wind yesterday.
Morning people of the palace
I’m back at work today, a bit emotional saying goodbye to my sister who came from Aus for the memorial.
@FarligOpptreden if you want the wind, take ours at the office - the roof looks like it is breathing - two panels opens and close the whole time when the wind blows and it freaks me out.
Struggling to get into the work headspace today.
Heh, we really should. Especially now that Syd is gone, it means a lot to have something with his name on it. But it’s @Wyvern 's super secret special recipe and love
Hey, do you guys have a new office yet? Or are you still at the cricket field?
I’m guessing you guys are close to Workshop 17 at Newlands?
I think they were there, now Century City afaik.
Evening everyone.
I did HAZOPs at Century City once. Arrived at night never saw anything, the morning it took 40 mins to travel 3km.
Morning all. Yolo.
Carpe diem.

You know those virtual credit cards you can create so that you don’t use the details of your real one? FNB has this feature on their app. Well, guess what, it has a hard limit of 99 and if you hit it, your card gets locked, sommer like that.
I use this feature whenever I buy something online or subscribe, I create the card, use it and then delete it, so that its details cannot be used.
And now I have hit that limit (that I did not know existed) that was stated NOWHERE in the process and my CC is now locked.
I have to wait for a new one to arrive from FNB and I am SO pissed.
Oh wow, I did not realise that there was a limit. I generally stick to one virtual card for a while unless I feel like something has potentially compromised it. The CVC changes often so at least the card details cannot be used elsewhere.
We used to be in that Workshop 17, I had to pack that office up in Dec and now we are working at our other office in Century City, but we are just waiting on sign off and we will hopefully have a new space in May/June at Black River Park
I’ve been to that W17 before. Had an appointment with the CEO of Kinetic Skunk, who also operates out of that shared office space. What struck me was the number of students around there!
Exactly one of the main reasons I hated it - we had varsity college next door and then CPUT has a campus close by as well.
For us Black River Park is a stepping stone into the AWS space (currently silly in prices)
Especially since we managed to become their Premier Tiered Partner in South Africa

Morning good.
