It’s the 24H Nurburgring endurance race this weekend. Looks like the qualifying is currently in the rain.

Some rain about, and already drama during the short warm up session earlier today - Nyck de Vries in the #7 Toyota Hypercar ran into the back of our own Kelvin van der Linde’s Lexus GT3. Significant damage to both cars.

Initially looks like the Lexus brakes without reason, but it’s KvdL - either something happened in the car, or NdV missed something when he was looking at his steering wheel.
Part of the warmup was declared Wet, with a lot more rain forecast through the whole of the 24 hours. Some heavy showers forecast for the dark, early hours tomorrow morning which may even trigger a red flag situation during the worst of it.
Been watching on and off every few hours… And oof, just saw a literal “nice guy finish last” moment
Ferrari take another Le Mans win! The #50 Ferrari 14 seconds ahead of the #7 Toyota with last year’s winner, the #51 Ferrari in P3 another 22 seconds behind. The top 9 cars all finished on the lead lap, proving again that the BOP regulations are working in the WEC.

An amazing race again this year, despite the almost 6 hours behind the safety car through some insane rain showers in the dark. Quality racing across all three categories.
The Sheldon van der Linde BMW Hypercar #20 had major issues early in the race after a heavy crash and spent most of the second half in its pit. They hoped to emerge for a final tour in order to secure a classified Le Mans finish but sadly ended up showing as “Not Classified” on the results screens. Brother Kelvin’s GT3 Lexus had a better result, finishing P7 in the category after starting from the pitlane.
Good racing in tricky conditions. Ferrari nailed that strategy in the end. Good to see it close enough in the last stages that they have to keep it on track and at pace, and not just coast to the finish.
