F1 24 - EA Sports F1 Games

I haven’t been invited to it yet!

I can really do with some practice on leaving the league in F1 2020.

For some reason I’ve not been able to invite you from the league screen, it doesn’t show all my friends in that list. I’ll create a new league in any case before Thursday when we ride!

Also, story time! I’ve completed the first season of My Team, and it’s time to tell you the story of Hammer MRT’s first season in Formula 1 and the plans for Season 2.

We started the season battling Haas and Williams for the bottom of the grid, struggling to get out of Q1 on Saturdays and seriously lacking in race pace. Our Honda engine was struggling with durability as well. So odds were stacked against Hammer MRT in their first F1 season.

The first few races went okay. I got good position in the race, ending up bagging 11th 3 times in a row within the first 5 races of the season. Monaco was the first highlight for the team, where I bagged a best finish of 6th, scoring the first points for the team.

Meanwhile, Jack Aiken lamented at the back, only ever getting into the top 16 twice before we headed to Spielberg.

France was our first hard come down to earth, as we struggled with race pace, and intermittent rain during the race meant we struggled severely. I only managed to get 18th in that race, the worst position for the season.

The start of the season did not go well for upgrades as well. Almost all upgrades done in the car failed and had to be redone. That severely put out team on the back foot. But by Spielberg we got some good traction in upgrading our facilities, and the upgrades to the car came in think and fast.

Fast forward to Monza, one of the most epic races I’ve ever experienced in F1. We managed to qualify in 7th thanks to a extremely low drag setup on the car. The race was intense, and I experienced multiple 3 wide moments, even one almost into Ascari. But I ended up coming into 5th in the race, getting a new personal best.

Singapore was bad. Seriously bad. The whole weekend was a mess with engine penalties, rain during qualifying, and then the race. I hit the wa and sent the car careening down the road, and I hit Gasly. My car was totalled and I had my first DNF. Urgh.

But Russia was amazing. Finally some major updates came onto the car, and it felt great for the first time. I had a great battle with Albon, where I planned my attack on him for the last race. I saved both ERS and fuel, and spent within 1 second of him. And on that last lap I went into full party mode and took him. Got a 4th in the race, new personal best.

The rest of the season went very well. Even Jack got some 11th position, almost getting his first points. I got constant point scores, and at the end of the season, got a whole rafter of points.

Hammer MRT ended its first season in 7th in the constructors championship. It was a fantastic season, full of epic battles and many ups and downs.

Now onto Season 2. Hammer MRT will stay with Honda, and Honda has made some great improvements to the durability and power for their engine. In fact Honda at the moment is the 2nd best engine on the grid.

Hammer MRT will stay with Jack Aiken, and will focus on his development for the season. He has already increased from 68 rating to 80 rating. Hopefully he will get some good points for the team as we need to now focus on getting 6th in the WCC.

There was a regulation change for the power units, but we managed to adapt all our upgrades to the PU for season 2. We also have some major upgrades over the winter break on the chassis coming in, and we’ll be starting season 2 Asa solid midfield team taking on the likes of McLaren and Renault.

We’ve also managed to upgrade the power unit department, chassis department and aero department to spec 2, so we’ll be able to benefit much more from these departments. Our marketing department has also received significant investment and should ensure we get much more out of our season activities.

I can’t wait for season 2!!

This got me thinking a bit.

What are some of your favourite and hated pit entries and exits, and on this, do you use assited pitting?

Yeah I still have assisted pitting on. Hmm must try switching that off too.

Same man. It may be worth looking at disabling purely based on the frustrations I experience on when you get control again on pit lane exits. I hate getting control right before a corner, I often lock up and struggle, especially when joining into a flurry of others.

China is one of those pit exits I really dislike, along with Monaco.

Australia pit entry I really battle to judge and get my entry line correct.

I had an unfortunate scenario in a pit exit during a Season 1 My Team race in Bahrain…

I qualified 15th and decided to start on Mediums since I felt I could keep up with the guys around me. The longer first stint payed off and I managed to lead the race on my in-lap.

As I pitted, Hamilton’s dot on the mini map (who was effectively 4th) slowly passed me while I was putting on fresh softs. He had an engine failure. The titwit then decided that a good place to pull over was next to the track where the pit exit was, just as I’m exiting. The timing was perfect, for everyone behind me. Hamilton pulled across the pit exit and the AI decided that the best course of action for me was to almost stop completely in the pit exit. This caused 4 cars that I managed to overtake on track, get past and my strategy ruined.

The pit entries I struggle with are Belgium, Singapore and China. I always seem to overshoot the entry.

The worst exits are probably Bahrain, China, France…

You guys complaining about bad pit exits and not mentioning Hanoi probably haven’t done a race there yet. The pit exit is right onto the racing line, like at France. But unlike France it is completely blind and impossible to see a person coming either from the pits or coming on the track. It is brutal if you’re coming back out into traffic.

One nice thing about having assisted controls is being able to go full bull and the AI will auto speed correct you at that limit line

@Beo, were you playing 2018 through Game Pass, or do you own it?

I see 2018 was removed (or is about to be) from Game Pass, but that the 2019 version is now available.
