@GregRedd Glitch request: would you mind checking if you can turn EVERY assist on, and have the car auto drive itself to level the car and unlocks?

Lol. That was a fun way to spend lunchtime.

To answer the question, yes. Yes you can have the game auto drive a car and rack up car points.

“Maximum Assists” setting does leave Throttle as Unassisted, so change that manually to Assisted.

Used Free Play Race to set it up, checked that you could set 0 other cars and up to 1000 laps.

Did change the settings to put the car on a circuit with some corners and a handful of opponents to see how it would handle things. And it just did. Moves straight to the Driving Line on the start and just hugs that, avoiding all contact and not trying to deviate at all.

After pressing A to start the race, I didn’t touch the controller other than to change the camera views. This was all driving assists driven.

Oh, and further to my post yesterday about the weird stuff happening in my install, as I was setting up this test I noticed on my Video settings that the Image Modifiers section now offers me an AMD FSR setting. I don’t have an AMD GPU, I have a Nvidia 2070 card and up until yesterday this same setting was marked as Nvidia DLSS. And no, sadly, there wasn’t any sign of a Day 1 patch being released so nothing changed, or nothing should have changed, overnight.

That’s crazy that you can set it to just drive itself!

I know that FSR is available for all makes of gpu’s but weird that it’s not giving you a DLSS option.

I’ll get a chance later today to give it a go and report back on my experience.

Brings back memories of Final Fantasy 7 on PS1, with a rubber band over night, to farm xp.

Doesn’t that kind of just make the use case of cars having levels and progressing in that way therefor useless?

I played a bit last night and it’s everything I wanted. I played Gran Turismo earlier in the year and didn’t like it at all. It just isn’t my kind of game.

I like that you get to unlock upgrades for cars now. Gives you reason to stick with a car and to level up like an RPG. Feels like you are really investing into you favourite cars.

Forza looks and feels great on the Series X. That we can get to play it as part of Game Pass is just amazing. I decided not to buy the extra stuff though. Money can be used better other places.

I played a couple of hours last night. It’s a lot of fun, but it’s slightly more arcadey than I expected. Love the idea of selecting your starting position. We need that for F1.
I dislike the AI Hamiltoning in on me multiple times. If I’m fully alongside, it’s my corner, innit?
I dislike the fact that I didn’t see the number of laps on the wheels and fuel screen for the longest time. Reading fail, but probably also UI fail.
I dislike that I accidentally played until 1 am and now I’m knackered.

So friendly MEW private multiplayer track racing session when?!?

I am ashamed to admit that this never occurred to me as a requirement, but stoked that more people can enjoy the game on the level that suits them!

@avatar I also thought the game felt a bit Arcady but if you turn off all assists and set your steering to “simulation” it feels a LOT better.

@GregRedd I am very keen for some fun races!

I definitely will, but last night I was lazy so I used an xbox controller like an animal.

I’m also keen for a non-corona cup! Already time trialed against a couple of @Gregredd’s times.

I can see myself spending a lot of time in the rivals. That is addictive.

Do you own this car irl? I recall someone owned a Megane on these forums. If it is you, is it reliable and do you have to “wait for parts from France”?

[edit] Or is it Solitude?

It’s me. I’ve got the GT though, not the RS (I wish). I’ve never had a problem with the car. It’s just over 5 years old now. So I can’t unfortunately let you know about the waiting for parts thing.

Ahh nice, my brother and I both have Peugeots. My 206 has been perfectly reliable, but his 208 has had problems, and often needs special orders for parts from France.

I saw the Megane as a replacement for him, but he’s wary of getting another French car. Peugeot dealers are scarce in SA but Renault seems to have a better presence.

I’ve had a Clio in my time, loved it, and never had an issue with it. Never found that parts weren’t readily available.

However, I have always wanted to own (outside of a game) a Clio V6 Sport.

Damn, it’s sexy!

I can’t believe the complete lack of Volvo’s.
