Forza Motorsport

Driving is nice, fun. Wheel is popo. CarPG leveling actually does do what it’s meant to do. But around level 40 I get bored, and let the assists finish the leveling on Le Mans track. The replays’ glitches need to be fixed, and they should add music, then it would be :fire:.

People have been moaning about the high downforce grippy cars sliding too much. The flip side is, the sliding road cars feel :man_cook::kiss:

Still have to catch y’all online for some multiplayer

What fresh hell is this now…?

The game is super buggy. I’m going to quit for now. I keep getting the bug where sometimes if I upgrade a car then the game loses some of my progress. Frustrating.

I can’t say that many issues have plagued me. I think I have had one crash to the dashboard, and another loading screen that doesn’t progress. Oh ja, let’s not forget the washed-out look.

You need to update from Windows XP…

:joy: It wouldn’t surprise me! I think that error message is going through an identity crisis and having a mental breakdown all at the same time.

Update 1 is starting to roll out. Hopefully it brings some much needed stability and PC graphics improvements. Looks like 2.2 GB on the PC, but downloading very slowly - update servers must be being slammed.

This is great, mine downloaded fine on Xbox and also around 2.2GB. Hopefully this helps @Solitude’s problems.

Thanks, I hope so too!

Updated car upgrade unlock levels:

Anyone had a chance to see if the update brought any genuine improvement? I haven’t, but did notice that the Steam review rating has continued to slide, so I’m guessing it didn’t make much of an impact.

39%. Ouch.

I mean it unlocks faster, but you still don’t have enough xp to spend, so…

Also, I don’t know how so many people say the wheel support is good, with bad defaults. It’s inconsistent dogshit. If you manage to dial it in to usable, it’s only for that car. Try a different car with the same settings, and nothing feels right. Worse yet, go to a different game, and realise how good wheel support can actually be, and how god awful forza is, at it.

Game still runs like shit. 40 fps with a 5900X and 3080. Oh, and there’s no true fullscreen, or so says OBS. It’s actually full screen borderless.

Applying upgrade… :infinity:

Let me reign in my rant. I was bevok yesterday, and your post brought back all the pain I was fighting.

Everything I said still stands. However the good:

  1. After lap one, I have awesome close races with AI. The kind where you’re swapping positions, corner after corner.
  2. Gamepad controls are still stellar.
  3. Turning off raytracing, and manually setting values, rather than relying on AUTO bumps the fps back up to good amounts (80’ish)
  4. My Ford Sierra looks fucking gorgeous :star_struck:
  5. My sweet spot seems to be performance tuning till the car is #70 'ish of a performance class. At that PI, car is fast enough to win, if I drive flawlessly, but slow enough, that if I make a mistake, I can’t still come 1st. Yet, still good enough to have door to door close racing with AI.

All in all, this is a bipolar game. The bugs and issues, can overwhelm the good. But if you’re lucky enough to experience more of the good for a session, man it’s fucking stupendous. Right up until the bad comes back again :joy:

What level is your AI set at? (Just so I know to drop mine by 2 or 3 to get the same effect  )

Like Mrs. Fitzpatrick, my matric English teacher, used to say: “Show don’t tell!”

So if the class max is 699, you go to a PI of around 670?

7/8 :man_shrugging:

670, exactly. I don’t really individually upgrade stuff, I just quick upgrade. Once it’s around 670, for example, it’s usually great at 7/8 difficulty. I’m sure there are some 8/8 people here :see_no_evil:

They are still using car models from Forza 3 :expressionless:, game should have been delayed and polished a bit more

There’s a story there, that I’m not sure we want to know…

You’re right - if I did tell you, I’d be forced to show you too. And then you’d definitely regret wanting to know in the first place.

Yeah I agree with this. I’m trying to decide between difficulty 6&7. But I do keep it in expert settings.

Though the start I find I make up quite a few positions by the first corner and often start the race at around position 10 to 16.

My biggest gripe with the game is that if you finish practice and exit the game you’d have to do that again. So you need to set aside approx. 30 minutes to complete the event.

So I finally decided to uninstall the game. My wheel experience was only OK, and the controller was worse (I am spoilt with a wheel).

I am having so many graphic issues that I just cannot keep playing. Often the track would vanish, or turn into a flat shaded mess, with no lines or marks. Other times the crowds would float in the sky, walls around the track would vanish, and everything in the background would be such low resolution that it looks like a 16bit pixel mess.

I realise that my old 1080ti is old, but the fact that the “dynamic” effects and renderer really hates relinquishing control means I cannot enjoy the game. I will try again when I upgrade my GPU one day.
