Even bigger special on Steam at the moment, but only for another 2 days… R150 for the GOTY Edition
I thought about making a separate topic for the actual start of this Game Club, but figured it would be better to just convert the existing one.
As per the poll, the kick-off is officially today. GL HF!
Started earlier today. Thanks to the scaling overhaul mod I can do quests out of my level range enabling me to play the game “out of order” just to change it up since I’ve already finished the game 3 times.
If I can give one tip to new players, disable the quest tracking “breadcrumb trail” in the hud settings. Better still, disable the mini map completely for better immersion.
I’ll get downloading again on PS4.
I’m super tempted to carry on my death march run on the PS4 and go for the plat, but I will miss the mods.
Also, I have finished the PS4 version once and the GoG version twice but I have not finished the Steam version so that’s what I’m playing.
Wish I could get it on Switch, but that would mean new joycon as well and then it becomes very expensive.
I forget the most important tip of all for newcomers, especially people who’ve never played a Witcher game before.
Pick Yennefer. She is the obvious correct choice and picking Triss just shows that you don’t understand how the game works.
Triss is bliss. Best bae.
I’m going for a different look for Geralt this time around:
Also found another great mod tonight. Friendly Hud - adds a lot of ways to customise the hud and also adds the ability to add a compass and 3D markers to the world (among other things)
This is what it looks like in practice (with the hud disabled except when needed and 3D markers):
I have my health and stuff set up that it only shows when I take damage. The compass and markers only show up when I use witcher senses, which is awesome. Way more immersive this way.
A tip for the people who want to dabble with multiple mods. Make sure to get the unification patch and then get mods for that version and also get the script merger to get rid of script conflicts which will block the game from launching.
Got my NG+ going. Haven’t played since November 2016, so I’m trying to remember all the mechanics of crafting and potions and all that. But I’ll take my time, things are pretty easy at the beginning, despite everything being 3 levels higher than me.
It’s even more beautiful if you take the HUD away. (even on my crappy PC it’s still really stunning)
I’m really enjoying doing Skellige first. I was a bit scared since all the quests are way above my level, but the scaling mod takes care of that nicely. Tested it now with a level 32 contract (I’m level 11) and while it took me a while to kill the creature it didn’t one shot me at least. Hopefully it will upscale properly as well when I go back to Velen.
I literately just rage quit because of the one shot thing.
O yeah forget you could do that.
I must say I don’t really want to do the bloody baron quest againagainagain…
That is one of the greatest quests in RPG history. I can’t wait to replay it.
I wasn’t able to do the 30 hours. My bum gets sore when sitting by the desk. Must really invest in a better chair one day.
But still managed to do 24 hours! And I love the game. I can see why people go so crazy about it.
The Bloody Baron quest line is bloody fantastic.
I too suffer from crap chair sore bum syndrome. It’s an everyday problem since I use the PC for playing guitar and other stuff as well so I sit in front of it a lot.
Glad you’re enjoying the game!
I only ever use my crossbow underwater or when fighting harpies/ekidnas. I know you can make it pretty powerful, but I prefer swords and signs.
O I should have added its for underwater.
Yeah mostly use bombs and my swords since I have mostly combat mutagens.
I miss my mutagens so much
