I got gifted Forgotten Gods on Steam! Yay me. I still have to download the DLC because of cap, but now when I try to play the game it crashes my GPU driver after a couple of minutes.
The game freezes, then the screen goes black and the sound comes back but not the visuals. I then get a notification in windows that Radeon wattman has been restored to default settings due to system error.
Anybody else have issues like this?
Mmm, never had this issue and I have many hours in the game since it was launched.

I remembered GD being a CPU intensive game since it runs on a very old engine (Titan Quest engine) so I decided to open up my case and look at my CPU. I couldn’t even see the heatsink because of all the dust.
I cleaned it out and after that I was able to play almost an hour of GD without any issues. I just don’t understand what that has to do with the Radeon drivers crashing. Maybe something went wrong with “communication” between CPU and GPU as a result of CPU heating issues?
Seems that my issue is resolved at least. Now just waiting for midnight for cap to roll over so I can download Forgotten Gods.

Downloaded the expansion and played for 10 minutes before it crashed again. This is really annoying.
Updating my GPU drivers now to see if that works.

To be honest I haven’t tried again. Ive noticed two or three smaller updates since I tried last but I just haven’t gotten around to trying again, to much other stuff to play.

Also been thinking of starting a new char when this drops. not sure which build yet. I currently have a Warder and a Spellbreaker. I want something completely different that doesn’t use any of those two masteries. I think I have about 2/3 candidates.

Hmm… I wonder if this will apply to consoles too. I don’t see any mention of it.
Fine print at the end of the official forum post detailing the patch content says “yes”. It’s the same info as on the Steam blog post, just with this added line:

Looks like I have the base game on steam, but not the DLC. I see I’ve got 0 hours on it too, I’m not sure when/where I got it… Not sure why I haven’t tried it yet. Might have to give it a go
