You mean besides putting the rest of us to shame?
I’d say tonight’s iRacing went very well. I just recorded my first victory in a multi class race in the lower class Kia!!!
I did my first IMSA race last night. 45 mins of Monza. I qualified 26th out of 36 (I think). It was a rolling start, and I got away really nicely at the green flag. But, it is Monza. Turn one was crazy. I got rear ended so hard I was crabbing around the track to the pits. Repair time? 10 minutes!!!
I nearly quit but then decided to be a big boy and stick it out. I then had a pretty good race and set my PB on the track, during a race and without a tow!
Finished in about the same place I qualified in, so pretty decent. I lost 20 points on my SR though. This is such fun but also so frustrating!
I did my first IMSA today on Monza (no pressure from Olt). I only had two warmup laps prior to qualy and was not hitting my markers. Man so I first qualy lap had a minor off track so it did not count, it was a 1:49… and I took my second lap very cautious and was a 1:50.907. So it was 26th out of 36th.
Rolling start, first corner chicane I had to go on the grass to avoid the porsche infront of me. So I was 29th after the first corner. First few laps it was tough, pure defending and started cooking my tyres and brakes. But I took a lap or two, cooled down and started building up again and was catching and passing cars. With Oltman’s spotting and race info we managed to bring it home 17th.
It was real work, hitting braking, going side by side with other cars, avoiding collisions and spinning cars. But I feel happy, we can build on this.
Thanks @oltman
I am so glad you had fun! Because I didn’t!
x17 at turn 1, lap 2… Was going to try again but would rather save my energy for tomorrow…
(The in-game recording sucks…)
Nicely done @Nosferatie. And wow @oltman it looks like you are having a horrid time with IMSA. I hope it gets better.
I’ve been working on my concentration and it’s something I’ll keep working on. It has gone better however. Next week I’ll start pushing for a better iRating some more. For now I’ll focus on keeping up my concentration throughout the race.
I’ve been thinking about iRacing. Been reading a bunch of forum posts and a bunch of people that have been playing iRacing for years.
iRacing is different than other games. It truly is a hobby. The aim is not to just run through the classes and try everything. It is all about getting better and focusing on a certain track/car/series and getting better at it.
I think I’ve been thinking incorrectly about iRacing, and that has caused me anxiety if I didn’t do well or didn’t increase my safety rating. But that is not what it all should be about.
So for now my focus will change in iRacing. I am liking the Skippies and the Kia, so will be focusing on these and getting myself into the top splits first before moving onto other series. I hope that through this it will teach me the things I need to be taught and focus on getting faster and more consistent.
Once I’ve done this series to what I feel is sufficient level, I’ll move over to the C class races and be looking into IMSA. But iRacing is something to get used to, something to spend time in to get better at, and right now that is what I need to focus on.
I agree with Hammer. Thats why I was very careful what I spent extra money on. I really want to do well in the IMSA class of cars and focus only on that. I had to grunt through the MX5 cup to get the C license for the IMSA series. Now I just focus on that alone.
One day when I get my C class license I also want to focus on the IMSA series in preparation for our big plan.
For now I’ll stick to the MX5 cup and focus on getting better.
I can tell you guys one thing though. I get serious back pain the day after I raced a lot .
After some googling, I found lots of reasons why this can be. I think it’s most likely due to my chair. Looking forward to one day when I have a proper rig.
My lower back is killing me today.
I will hook you up!
One day when I have space for one I will ask for your help.
Looks amazing! Well done! Now stop printing and start racing!
Wow that looks great!
Lets take a moment to review how Tobias Kristensen rejoined a track on lap one, this is my chase cam:
