iRacing - The Ultimate in Sim Racing

So last night I took my first foray back into iRacing. No races, just some practice runs in rallycross. Was super fun, but damn it is not that easy. But I think I posted a competitive time in practice.

There is one thing I also tried that EVERYONE should go download right now; a mod called Crew Chief. It is spectacular! It takes real time data from iRacing and provides a wonderful race engineer radio. The information it gives is so much more that anything I’ve ever seen in any racing game, and you can even let it call you by name. My name is in the database, so now my crew chief calls me by name on the radio. It is such a great little immersion mod. Also works extremely well on voice recognition that I tested, never not understanding me.

Go download it here right now

Thanks! Already using it after @Nosferatie told me about it. It is pretty awesome, apart from none of the names sounding anything like Oltman…

Is there anything else that you guys are using that you’d recommend?

I also use Sim Dashboard on my old Galaxy S7 phone as an extra bit of information. You can create your own layouts for just about any bit of information.

This is one I am using now but its constantly changing as I feel I need different information.

Practiced with the Le Mans Series boys around Canada. Was fun, the LMP cars are just redicioulous fast. Was only 2.9 off the pace of the GTE cars, so not bad. Will work on it some more.

Nice!

Unfortunately I had to reinstall Windows so currently don’t have iRacing installed. Will do that next. This week has just not gone to plan.

So mu first foray back into iRacing did not go well at all. Did two races in the Mazda, and both time got absolutely booted off the track. In race two I qualified on pole, my second pole position ever. Corner one the guy in second place never even attempted to break and rear ended me hard, breaking my steering and suspension and that was the end of my race. I was so furious! I’ll only play again if I can drive anything other than the Mazdas. Bloody stupid drivers.

There is a multiclass series with the Mazda, Pontiac and Mustang. I feel the drivers are way more civilised there. Maybe try that?

Some of the special events I want to enter next year! A couple of 6 and 12 hour races, then maybe some 24 hour races too!

I wonder when the Special event schedule for 2020 will be released. Would like to do the Roar Before the 24h and Sebring before we tackle Le Mans. I’ll definitely be available for some races where teams are involved.

I just want a week of solid racing! I hope this will be the week. Had a bad week last week. This week I hope that I’ll get lots of time to sit behind the steering wheel and get that C class license.

So I did my first Le Mans Series race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, in the Ferrari. I will need to go to church just now for doing that :stuck_out_tongue: . I was just under 3 seconds off the ultimate pages. I know where to improve, but I’m just not yet that confident under braking. Qualified 16/36 with not my fastest lap but was ok with it.

The race was good except for the first few laps where I had people bounce off the wall of champions into my way. Car looked damaged and I was convinced it wasn’t 100%. Red mist decended but managed to get a rythm and with a pit stop finished 12. Here is a video of my first 15min, not my best race, few mistake but it was my first race with the Ferrari.

Sorry for the potato quality, I’m not a streamer like Olt, I just captured the replay.
