Mine on telkom
its so infuriating
Dude if that was me I would have ripped them a new asshole long time ago, give them notice that if its not resolved Today that you are going to report them to the ISPA and then do so, they will then be forced to respond to you or get fined etc… if that still doesn’t get results there is also always ICASA
Been slowly reading the code of conduct on ISPA site as I’d need to provide what they technically breached
just a small update… if you are VDSL … check the following:
Telkom blamed my router for dropping the line, as that was disabled and did not have any numbers entered… still do not know what it is for though, and i only got that feedback today…
did that fix the issue at all?
i only got the feedback this morning, implemented via teamviewer, and line came back to 20mb (was sitting on 12mb down, 1mb up) will check tonight for the dreaded 20:00 - 22:00 window of death
Webafrica just came back to me asking if i am using a VDSL router… after 9 months of VDSL service from them at full stable VDSL speeds…
Last three months have been a cock up of note.
Yea while i’m no longer (for now) getting latency spikes in the evening due to telkom changing routing (have other ppl in my area on adsl also no longer experiencing it), webafrica have yet to reply to some of my mails…i’m on fibre, so not sure if the vdsl vlan applies. I also dont have access to their router where the fibre terminates and my router is just sitting effectively in bridge mode
Does it only happen certain times and like clockwork when the connection goes to crap?
my response to their question:
Yes I am using a VDSL router - the same one i bought and have been using when the VDSL switch was done on my line 9 months ago.
The last two-and-a-half months I have had terrible service, starting with daily throttling from 20:00 to 22:00, this has escalated without correction, or remuneration from your part, resulting in me canceling my webafrica subscription. Now after the cancellation internet speed has been halved, and all of the sudden it is the result of a router.
I am sorry, but evidently there is a fault that WebAfrica does not wish to acknowledge or address. Irony is when i did not pay for a month you where very happy to assist yourselves in getting your every penny…yet do not deliver the same service to your clients. Shame on you. I had to revert to facebook and twitter to get some sort of recognition as open tickets where closed shortly after opening, without resolution, and with instruction not to close the tickets.
This may be useful if my ISP ever bothers getting my ADSL profile changed to VDSL as I have been asking for them to do for weeks.
Sounds like the WebAfrica i’d been dealing with
i cannot game from 20:00 ish to 22:00 ish… yet streaming netflix and youtube works 100% any other service is dead in the water, i include screen grabs of me streaming netflix while speedtest indicates 0.05mbps down … mind you this is on a 20mb down 5mb up capable line. everything reverts to normal after the throttling window. and it is across the whole network, even with all the computers off.
!Sounds like congestion where they are prioritizing certain services as a result
