Dirt Rally 2.0 [MEWRL]

I have a new Club Pending Member request from someone called ā€œGrievousā€. Is this the one and only @Grievous, or someone elseā€™s alt, or does anyone know who this person is - maybe invited a friend to join?

Thatā€™s me, thought I might try it out since its on gamepass.

Most excellent! Welcome back to MEW, itā€™s been awhile. And very welcome to the Dirt Rally Club! Your membership request has been approved.

Just be aware, as @Beo discovered above, the Game Pass version is only the base game, and our events do use DLC for some of the rallyā€™s. the current one in Scotland for example.

@GregRedd Could you post a breakdown of the Scotland stages like you did for Spain?

Crap. Meant to do that yesterday already and completely forgot. Sorry. Will get it done super soon!

So, as it turns out, I now have access to the content. I will get to installing and posting a time at my soonest.

Thank you

Right, sorry for the delay.

Round 1 of Season 5 is done. The Spanish streets were slick and fast as always. Maybe even a little too slick and fast for a couple of drivers.

After a ridiculosuly close battle our two resident alien, with the two of them swapping the lead a number of times, it was :trophy::1st_place_medal: @aldyr who took line honours by just 49 seconds from :2nd_place_medal: @Boogey. Third step on the podium was claimed by :3rd_place_medal: @LazyDemoni a full 4:33 behind our winner. And only 21 seconds ahead of hard charging P4 holder @Deadlypinecone. @DarthMol filled out the Top 5, finishing 6:24 behind our winner.

The minor points and the rest of the classified finishers in P6 - P10 were Moi, @the9avenger9, @Dragonic, @czc, and @murfle in P10. Also classified and bonus point earning, but listed as DNF were @Entity and finally @WarRack101 in P12.

After Round 1 of 8, hereā€™s the early Championship Standings:

Lotā€™s of rallying still to come, so plenty opportunity to get more points and more names on the board.

Round 2 - The Perth and Kinross Challenge, Scotland

From Spain we move over to the sometimes misty pine forests of Scotland, and the narrow, twisty tracks of Perth and Kinross. We also have a change of vehicle for this round, with any of the awesome collection of Modern Rally Group A cars available for you to use in this round.

Select your wheels of choice from: Ford Escort RS Cosworth, Lancia Delta HF Integrale, SUBARU Impreza 1995, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI, SUBARU Impreza RS (DLC)

Stages for the rally are varied again in terms of time, weather and surface conditions. Plan your repairs and tyre choices wisely. The big question is going to be if a set of Wets will survive the final 3 stages, all of them longā€¦

Och aye Jimmy! Get on with ya, ya dirty basterds!

Also, @ Beo and @Grievous (and anyone else who jumps onboard using the base game through Game Pass). Iā€™m sorry to say, but thereā€™s sadly going to be very few opportunities for you to compete in this Seasons events.

One of the car classes weā€™re using - the Up to 2000cc (4WD) class - is DLC, so Rounds 1, 3, 5, and 7 are automatically out. And then of the remaining event locations, only New England, USA (Round 6) and Hawkes Bay, New Zealand (Round 8) are included as base game venues.

Sorry guys - got so used to all the PC players having the full GotY content, never even crossed my mind to consider the base game players. Iā€™ll give a good think for the next season in the new year, promise.

Ahh, not @Beo anymore it seems

Thanks @GregRedd

Iā€™m gunning for that 3rd place on the podium. I had 2 big offs in the rain on stage 3 which put me about 2:00min down on time, add an extra 1 minute later on for a puncture and thereā€™s 3 minutes I couldā€™ve saved had I kept it clean. That will be my biggest challenge going ahead.

I enjoy Scotland - managed to beat the mighty @SlinX there once upon a time

Will try get on board and up to speed tonight.

Donā€™t stress, many of us leave our runs far too late (procrastination for the win) and donā€™t end up finishing them - so youā€™ll catch up soon enough.

So I started up the game a bit late last night. I put in a few shakedowns, tested and tuned my ride to what felt comfortable. Then I started the first event, and this is where the mistake took place as I was unaware I wouldnā€™t be able to save/exit. The first stage went fairly well and proceeded straight into the second stage. Okay, Iā€™ll quickly knock this one out too, then itā€™s time for bed. Did the rainy soaked event and pounded up my ride a bit. This took me straight into the third event at which point I quit the game as it was after midnight. This, unbeknownst to me, gave me a DNF for that stage.

I is a sad. But hey, we learn.

Loving the game regardless!

Something similar happened to me once upon a time at the start of this competition also.

Whats a shakedown btw?

The shakedown is a just a sector from the stage that you use to test your car, I believe you get ten shakedowns available.

You are able to tune your ride and perform another until the point you repair your car at which you forfeit any remaining shakedowns available.

The Dirt 2.0 menus and interfaces are not clear at all. You have to ā€œQuit to Menuā€ after completing a race to be allowed to resume later.

I created a Custom Championship, and it took me a while to find out how to load it. The interface was just a bit confusing. I tried using the Lancia Delta but struggled with the handling and steering.

Yeah, in hindsight I should have played any other aspect of the game to get the feel of it, instead I just jumped straight into it. I want to remove most of the HUD too as those upcoming corner prompt in the middle of the screen distract me. Not only that, remove the timing intervals too.

Damn I love this game!

I love watching my replays, they look so authentic. When this game is going well, itā€™s going well. But when you mess up, it all goes pear shape.

Two days and a few more hours to get your kilt on, prime your bagpipes, and get your Scottish Rally times set:

5 starters so far, with @LazyDemoni comfortably in the lead, both on time and on the road. @Entity is the sole finisher at the moment, although, technically he ā€œfinishedā€ on Stage 2 already :grinning:. Still, heā€™s classified, he gets points. Which is more than can be said for the rest of youā€¦ :stuck_out_tongue:
