So the new bot lets us create events on discord. Might be nice to ‘sign up’ and get pinged (assuming the bot does that) at the start so you don’t forget. It’s in #mewme-chat

It’s been too long!!

Not quite 84 years, but you get the idea. I’d like to propose a concerted community effort to restart our Most Epic Win Multiplayer Evenings, which we’ve sadly let slip for way too long. Going by the posts in here, the last time we played together was back in July 2021. That’s just poor. Weak. Sad. Kak!

There’s been a couple of mentions of MEWMEs around the forum recently. I’m hoping that those mentions, and this post, will combine to help spur interest again.

First thing I’d like to propose is to set a regular, fixed time for at least one scheduled MEWME event per month. That way everybody knows well in advance when it’s happening and can plan around it. If you can join this month, fantastic. If not, hopefully you will be able to next month again. #ThanksEskom

Also, if we work to a scheduled day every month, we’ll have a full month ahead to nominate and choose a game to play together. That doesn’t necessarily mean other ad hoc MEWMEs can’t be setup and run at any time. Toss an invite out, hop onto Discord and make merry. There’s always someone floating around here and on Discord.

Naturally we want to include as many people as possible into MEWME events. So, ideally, we’d play games that are cross-platform, browser based, or hostable by someone without others needing to own the game. Doesn’t have to be of course. If there’s enough interest in a PC only game once in a while, go for it.

Some suggested MEWME games:

  • Golf With Your Friends
  • Among Us
  • Jackbox Party Games
  • PUBG
  • Don’t Starve Together
  • Valheim
  • Dead by Daylight
  • Project Zomboid
  • V Rising
  • Skribblio
  • Fall Guys

We also shouldn’t make it dependant on one or two individuals to coordinate, host, manage MEWME events. Anyone can step up to lead an evening’s session and be Game Master for the night.

As for a day and date - I’d like to propose the 4th Thursday of every month, starting at 8 PM and running until everyone fades (or rage quits).

For this month that’ll be Thursday, 23rd February. I’d like to nominate Among Us as the game.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I love it! Just hopefully everyone is ok with being streamed since that’s my scheduled night. But I am all for having you all as ‘special guests’!

Something something load shedding, but we’ll work around it

My Thursdays are league race nights but if we ever have an occasional Tuesday event I’d be happy to join in.

Doesn’t have to be the Thursday. What night works best for everyone?

Evenings (20:00 - 22:00-ish) that you’d generally be available and willing to join a MEWME event once a month?
  • Mondays
  • Tuesdays
  • Wednesdays
  • Thursdays
  • Fridays
  • Saturdays
  • Sundays

Sounds fun. Poll says Fridays are most popular, let’s put it to the test:

MEWME for April

Project: Playtime

Select one or both if you’ll be available and keen to play. Or suggest alternate dates below.

  • Friday, 21 April
  • Friday, 28 April
  • Neither, alternate proposed in comments

@oltman looks like you’re being Game Master this Friday! Should be enough for Project: Playtime. In fact there is space for two more players if there are others who still want to join in.

I recommend downloading and installing the game and then playing through at least the solo tutorial so that you can get comfortable with the controls and the game mechanics.

I have just checked the Discord server to make sure the MEWME Multiplayer channel is still up and available for you to use - it is!

If someone could please either screen share in Discord or post a link to a livestream I (and others I’m sure) would appreciate it. I may be able to pop past later in the evening to see how you’re doing. And if there is a livestreaming recording of things, post that here too to show everyone else what they missed out on.
