I haven’t gotten to any of the outlaw systems or stations yet, nor have I done any of the pirate missions or new ships. Maybe in time.

So far I have extra cargo space in my ship which is cool; more storage is always better.

The biggest change for me has been the pirate attacks on my settlement. They’re just constantly happening - every few minutes, in fact, to the point where I can’t really spend time in my settlement doing anything else. I used to hang out in the settlement and study recipes, or look at my outstanding missions and decide what to do next, or make upgrades and additions to my settlement like building pathways and adding extra lights and installing teleporters.

I have a storage access facility built in my settlement with 5 units so far, and I’ve been undertaking a storage spring cleaning. Everything being sorted into dedicated containers, renaming the containers, etc.

The pirate attacks are so frequent that I basically stand next to my ship now and have to drop what I am doing every 3-5 minutes to take off and engage the 1-3 pirates that are attacking. Your recruited squadron will only warp in when you engage the pirates, usually when I get a target lock on the first pirate vessel. So they don’t fight for you, without you.

It’s been pretty distracting, even moreso than the occasional sentinel attacks on my settlement used to be. If they’re going to build pirate attacks on my settlement then they need to give us defense technologies. Like mounted SAM turrets or ground-based plasma cannon towers that will fight off pirates without my constant intervention.

On the upside, every pirate attack raises my standing with the system alien faction, and rewards between 150k - 280k in Units. My Gek standing has absolutely skyrocketed and my bank account is swelling. And there are occasionally other rewards too, like mods or mats. So while annoyingly frequent, it also has the potential for farming of a sort.

Turns out that incessant Planetary raids of settlements was a bug! It, along with a bunch of other bits and bobs, have been patched.

There was also a bug that allowed you to sell items from ship cargo at a station trade terminal… Repeatedly. It was an almost-infinite-money glitch, where you’d make the sale and get the cash but the items didn’t leave your inventory. So you could sell them again, for a fraction less, since the price depended on the demand and by flooding the market you pushed demand down as well.

I only experienced the glitch in the expedition, not in my main game, so infinite money isn’t benefiting me too much. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

No Man’s Sky’s 7th expedition, Leviathan. With this update comes roguelike time-loop gameplay and your very own space whale you can earn and add to your freighter fleet!

The 7th No Man’s Sky expedition, “Leviathan”, finds Travellers trapped in a time-loop curse suspected to trace back to a near-mythical space creature. Join the community effort to help recover memory fragments, lost remnants of previous loops, and liberate the universe in this unique rogue-like survival adventure. Jam-packed with rewards, including the WhaleStalker Cloak, Temporal Starship Trail and, the ultimate prize, the Leviathan itself, an imposing living frigate to add to your fleet.

This looks a very interesting Expedition… time to get back into NMS, I skipped the last few Expeditions for no reason whatsoever, but think I’ll defs do this one.

I am happy to report that @SIGSTART and I managed to finish Leviathan! Sig only died once when he learnt the hard way how much the Geology Cannon sucks (self-kill!), fortunately we were only 2 phases in so we managed to get him caught up again quickly. A glitch nearly killed me inside one of my bases, but I managed to save myself using my jetpack. Those low atmo frigates can fly right through buildings and mountains and yeet you off the edge of a cliff unexpectedly. Anyway, it is done, and I don’t miss Permadeath at all. Back to my main game I go! Yay!

I do not like the new inventory UI. I can’t see my whole general inventory on one screen any more because the tech inventory is taking up precious view space at the top. I shouldn’t have to scroll! Put tech back on it’s own screen!! Gahhh

Damn, that scene at the end is glorious… one day I’ll play this again :tm:

Following the launch on Mac, Hello Games has released a new update / free expansion called Singularity, complete with expedition.

The expedition seems to incorporate many of the Sentinel additions and changes released in the previous patch, along with some extras.

NMS and Hello Games are one of the few scenarios where I want to give them money but they just won’t take it!! All these free updates and events and patches and expansions… LET ME PAY YOU FOR SOMETHING ALREADY. I’d even be cool with microtransactions for cosmetics or something, doesn’t even have to be functional stuff, but noooooooo, they have morals and standards and whatnot.

I love NMS. I really do.

I like it so much that the answer to the question about which fictional universe I’d like to live in would almost definitely be NMS.
