You can move it, but don’t stress too much about the location. When in the build menu, you hit C to go to change mode and then you can select the part you want to pick up and move, or hit X to delete. You can do the same thing with the base computer, to move it. But you can always portal back to any base computer you’ve dropped, even without a base portal set up. You just materialise next to the base computer.

Can you get stuck on a planet, or does the algorithm not allow you to be on a planet without the materials to craft fuel or something to get off?

You guys are making me so lus for this game. Haven’t touched it in 9 or so months and even then didn’t play much. With the recent updates it sounds great.

Also want to try it again in VR, as I have my VR legs now and a much stronger CPU, so frame rate should be more consistent and allow for a smoother experience.

This was me, too, and I recently found some renewed enjoyment from it. I’m going to start playing the game with my wife, too.

P.S. It looks fantastic on the Mac too.

If co-op works well and it’s cross platform, I wouldn’t mind exploring the galaxy with my son. I’m sure he’ll enjoy it if there’s a “creative” mode ala Minecraft.

There is indeed a cross-play and creative mode. I’m sure your son will have a blast.

It is so weird, every time I play, the UI irritates me. The way the top bit of the screen goes darker.

Played a few hours over the weekend, and so far I’m enjoying it

I think that’s the vignette setting. I booted it up last night and saw there’s an option to turn the vignette and scan lines off. Have you tried that yet?

Thanks, I will give it a go!

A few things:

Whenever you start a new game or expedition, network PvP is on by default. Always go and turn it off so other players can’t kill you.

If you are stuck, generally there should always be a way to get what you need, but if you are really flabbergasted, you can go into the game settings and make it easier, literally. You can move a slider setting that makes crafting or repairs free. There’s a lot you can adjust to your gameplay difficulties.

Be careful of grenades. They will damage you if you explode them too close to you. You can self-kill with grenades. I don’t install grenades on my multitool for this exact reason.

I turned my multiplayer off after I started on the stranded planet of the new expedition and saw other people running around. Kind of immersion breaking.

I love how accessible the game is and lets you adjust every aspect of its settings to fine-tune your gameplay to your required difficulty level. More games need this.

I’ll admit, the only aspect I have changed and currently play on a Normal mode as I like to experience games the way the developers intended. That said, I promptly changed the setting so that I don’t lose my inventory on death.

I have had a wandering thought through; can you get “stuck” on a planet, or does that games mechanics and algorithm not allow for that scenario?

What do you mean by stuck? Physically stuck? There are glitches where you can fall into the ground or fall up into the sky sometimes. You can get a bit stuck on geometry if you are in a weird situation. But if you mean not being able to get off-planet, the answer is no.

Even if you just wander around, you can find containers on the ground that give you sodium nitrate or condensed carbon or such stuff. A little bit of carbon goes a long way to recharge your mining beam. Then you can mine more carbon and such. You can collect oxygen from dangerous plants by going close and harvesting them. Caves often give sodium and oxygen and there are occasionally plants in caves that give lots of carbon. In an outpost you can scrape together carbon from the plants growing inside the shelters or building. From there you can mine dihydrogen and ferrite and whatever you need. There’s always cobalt in caves.

There’s always a way to bootstrap yourself. It just takes a bit of time usually. But, I highly recommend that you work towards getting auto-recharge for your ship thrusters, that way you can never run out of launch fuel.

Yeah, this is what I meant. Not thinking of glitching or getting caught in the geometry. I was simply wondering about finding the necessary materials and such required to power or recharge your components, therefor finding yourself “stuck” on a planet.

After almost two weeks in Durban for work, I am finally back at home with some free time so now I get to tackle the expedition again. I did about four milestones from the first phase before I headed out and I had managed to find my ship, repair it, and get offworld to the space station. I also got storm crystals and ran around a lot and dug a lot of tunnels. I’m ready to visit the moons!

Officially hit 1000 hours in NMS a few days ago. Most of that is 600+ hours on my main save game.
