well I just sold the Volvo for some pocket change

I’m ready to pull the trigger on a Polo 1.2 TSi but the guy that bought the Volvo kinda talked me out of it now…

insurance is going to cost you an arm and a leg

What was his reason?

on what? the Polo? no already got a quote, it’s less than I paid on the old Volvo

he says the Polo is bound to breakdown because that 1.2 turbo charged motor takes a lot of strain and then it’s going to cost me a lot more money

He reckons I’ll be a lot better off with an older proper diesel

really? up here the polo insurance aint cheap

ja I got a quote from Momentum and they are A LOT cheaper than santam. so will be changing that too

The 1.2TSI engines have been around for a while. If there were big issues a quick google should reveal them. Older diesels have their own issues as well

yeah, I’m a bit torn… As much as I love a diesel I really like that little Polo too

Vegan friendly? I’ll pass

In my opinion, buy the car that you love.

Especially if you can afford it and the expected maintenance. Or if it has lots of warranty left.

Personally I think the Polo makes more sense. I’m not a car expert though.

yip all these small one litre ford ecoboost and vw tsi engines are under heavy loads most of the time. thats why i prefer older engine technology, they might not be as economical as the new ones but theyre practically bulletproof, even the fsi motors in golf 5 and 6 models had carbon buildup issues which the previous 20 valve 1.8’s never had

you can always get a new shape vivo its a cheaper previous gen polo with an even older polo engine in there

those are too rich for my blood…

just get a golf 5 or 6 1.6 or 2.0 then, its under 100k for most mk5’s and a mk6 would probably be up to the 130k region, extremely safe, well built and the parts are not that expensive

I can’t really afford anything. But the polo is a 2017 so it’s still under warranty and service plan till 2019

I’ll have to sleep on it again… if I go older it will definitely be a diesel again

if the polo is under warranty take it but sell it before the warranty is up. you most likely wont drive far with it.

Diesel is the elixir of the Devil

those polo’s are nice inside but some idiots tend to try and drive 1.2’s as if they’re Gti’s
