PlayStation Showcase May 2023

Some big announcements and news from the PlayStation side of gaming are expected tonight in the first full Showcase event that Sony have put on in over 2 years. While there have been a few events and State of Plays since April 2021, today is the first big Showcase event that are typically held to, well, showcase, the biggest and bestest news.

For context, the last PS Showcase featured God of War: Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, Wolverine, and many more. Tonight’s Showcase will hopefully be the same. And with two years’ worth of stored up news, maybe even better.

The show will run a bit over an hour, focusing on PS5 and PS VR2 games in development from top studios from around the world. Expect a glimpse at several new creations from PlayStation Studios, as well as spellbinding games from our third-party partners and indie creators.

The rumour and guess mills are rife with the “I hope” and “They will show” wishes of PS fans. Here’s some of the speculation and hopes of games - Sony Studios, exclusives, and third party titles - that may feature in the Showcase:

  • Spider-Man 2
  • Wolverine
  • Death Stranding 2
  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
  • Last of Us Multiplayer
  • Silent Hill 2 Remake
  • Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Mortal Kombat 1
  • Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon
  • Assassin’s Creed Mirage
  • Call of Duty - ha, take that XB!
  • Alan Wake 2
  • Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
  • Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name
  • Any of the many Star Wars games currently in development

Let’s see how many of those make the one hour Showcase.

There’ll also be a focus on PSVR news and titles. And a strong suggestion that a brand new IP title or two may also be featured.
