I have a question for anyone that has dogs (or pets really), though I don’t think this is a matter of his breed (Yorkshire Terrier). But damnit is this dog needy. Never before have I had or experienced a dog that is as needy and demanding of attention as this dog. To the point where it is frustratingly, and annoyingly so.
When I get up he follows me, when I sit he wants to sit on me. When I wake up he wants attention. When I’m playing with my son he literally climbs on top of my son (or anyone) to get to me. It’s like he cannot be left alone. At the time of writting this he is literally just staring at me wagigng his tail for attention.
You need to get the rest of the fam on board and all be strict discipliners - its why he goes to you for all his needs. He needs all the fam to be “parents”, also you are on what month 3? It will take up to a year for a rescue to settle in fully.
I know you like the dog, it didn’t come across as wrong, its why I asked who is the boss in the house. Dogs tend to attach to the person who either show it the most love or the most discipline.
Yeah, it’s not to say that he doesn’t ask/get attention from anyone else. He plays and looks for attention with others too, specifically my wife (who come to think of it will also discipline). Makes sense what you say.
Barring that, we really need to get him fixed too. I think that will also resolve some of the behavioral issues that he has been displaying.
Im sorry to say that the snipping of the balls is a myth. It really doesn’t do a thing. You need to train him.
When he gets to needy and in your way, teach him to go lie down on his bed. That way when he becomes to much, just tell him to go to bed. It is all that you can do, is correcting his behaviour with what you want him to do
This one has been quite needy of late… It literally feels like she is trying to suffocate me some days with trying to lie as close as possible to me or as near to my face as she can possibly get…
You wouldn’t say it starting to get warm because she insists on sleeping under the duvet with me playing big spoon and her head on the pillow.
He loves going for walks, I’m telling you. I am slowly traning him to walk instead of lead and pull to which he is making positive strides. He is walking a lot better now than he was when we first got him.
