As @oltman mentioned last month, now officially to be known as PUBG: Battlegrounds, the game goes free-to-play today on consoles and PC (via Steam).

I think it’s the first really decent Battle Royale type game, and still has a huge player base. Now that it’s FTP it may be a thick with griefers preying on innocent noobs, but it’s definitely still worth having it installed and dropping into the odd game every now and then for a bit of a laugh.
I’m not sure if the matchmaking has got to the point of grouping players by skill level or experience though? Someone more experienced will be along soon to tell us I’m sure.

Yeah I played in the beginning when it first came out. then Battle Royales become more common and I kinda stopped playing. Every now and then @oltman will gooi me a mad invite and I will join to make sure they don’t win a game.

I mean I am not sure I will ever get into it, just outta curiosity I s’pose. Just like every BR game I tried (I think even this one), I go in, play a round or two and then lose interest.

This is the only one I tried and it’s very addictive. I’m not much of a fan of multiplayer games but man I suddenly have this craving to play this again.

Yeah, maybe it’s because its the first of its kind that I played but any other battle royale that I played after that I either didn’t enjoy as much or didn’t play as often. But I always have a craving for some PUBG, my friends just gave up. otherwise I would still be playing it… I love the suspense lol
I mean it’s my second longest played game on steam:

hahahaha… and here I was checking out TBOI Rebirth and Repentance on the Xbox store last night.
But I am kinda in the same boat as @Solitude, I very seldom play MP games so I dunno if I start this how long it will even last. I guess it’s free so no harm eh.

PUBG was definitely the battle royale to define the genre. It does feel a bit clunky compared to more modern BR’s like Apex and Warzone which honed and streamlined things. Playing as a squad is the better experience though, rather than creeping and hiding in a bush for 20min just to get sniped from nowhere right near the end

Ugh I’ll install it again this evening. Haha. And yes, I’m willing to join for some multiplayer. Um, I have a new mouse though so aiming is still very much off. Would maybe do better if I play on the XBox.
There’s no crossplay between PC and consoles unfortunately.
