My favourite Charlie Watts story:
What ended up provoking the fury of the musician were the words of the vocalist during said meeting. Jagger referred to Charlie Watts as “my battery”, something that ended up getting out of his mind. To finish fueling the situation, in the middle of the night, Jagger came back on a spree, intoxicated, knocking on his bedroom door and waking you up in the process.
Watts, who had been in bed for hours, dressed, put on shoes, and went out into the hall. He went through the hotel in search of his bandmate, knocked on his door and snapped:“I am not your drummer; you are my singer”, phrase that ended with a hook in the face of the surprised and drunk Jagger.
