CitizenCon stream is live!
Anvil Carrack commercial. Wow! Watch in HD/4K if you can.
By the time this comes out, weāll be travelling faster than light, and it would have been revealed this is in fact an elaborate pyramid scheme.
Ah. Another cynic, I see. Would you like to jump in during the free fly and make up your own mind based on first hand experience, or just remain an armchair critic?
I like my armchair
I thought as much.
Hereās a thing: New Star Marine game mode. 20 v 20 like Battlefield. Combined arms, so foot soldiers, ground vehicles and spacecraft can all get stuck in.
Opening address is now on Youtube. Keynote should start shortly. I am staying up to watch this.
I have re-installed the game (moved to an SSD a few months ago), and am ready for Free Fly time!
So the keynote just finishedā¦ WOOOOOW!! I recorded a little footage that Iām busy uploading now. If you plan to watch it later, Iāll add spoiler tags. I am however calling dibs on revealing the surprise.
Here it is:
Freaking JUMP POINTS, baby! And Pyro system!
Fantastic! Iām guessing you have to manually navigate the worm hole at least once in each direction to have the ships nav AI map it, and then should be able to travel through them a little easier?
Pyro looks incredible, as briefly as we got to see it. And am I right in saying that that was the first public use of SSOCS? āStreaming out Stanton, streaming Pyro inā.
That would make sense, but no concrete details were shared on wormhole mapping just yet.
Indeed. The build they had at the show was running SSOCS, and CR confirmed it that the first iteration of it will be included in 3.8, releasing mid-December.
The other huuuge bit of news is that with 3.8, they will be enabling the first bits of player persistence, in that your items and aUEC will persist between patches. They will only wipe if absolutely required to fix balance or database issues. Say hello to actual progression!
In the midst of all this, lots of other news to share. Patch 3.7.2 went live after the show, so grab that if you want to play this coming week.
Also, the first iteration of the Galactipedia has finally been released!
Here is the second part of the main presentation. It dovetails with the opening address I posted earlier, so watch that one first.
Hammer (and anyone else thinking of giving the game a look during the Free Fly days), Janās mention of reinstalling brought up a thought worth mentioning because I canāt remember the details of your new rig, so just for in caseā¦
When you do install the game files, make sure you put them onto a SSD - absolutely essential. Also, if youāre using a gaming laptop, double check that the game is using your dedicated GPU and not the onboard graphics.
Watching the opening moments of the demo and Chris getting increasingly irritated with the hiccoughsā¦ Someone is going to get a shellacking, I expect
Jax is back, and things are blowing up!
In other words, the Expo has started, and the free fly should now be live.
CR always wants things to go perfectly. They all know how many people expect and even wish for them to fail. Truth is there are always a few glitches, and yet that just underlines how refreshingly honest these guys are about development. At the end, everyone still comes away feeling amazed and excited.
