Tech Support Hotline

Yes and no - I can use the same plugs but then ovbiously not enough plugs for the sound, so I use the front ports for the headset and back for the speakers - back has sound when I just plug in the headset

I’m assuming if you plug the speakers into the front headset port they still don’t work?

yep exactly - hence the theory the speakers died - they are about 10 years old tho so I cant complain

It could even be the 3.5mm jack needs to be replaced or the wires on the speaker itself need to be resoldered… Might be worth looking into if they’re really good quality speakers.

They are like R400 back then so nope not really worth it

So we’re looking at getting about 10 Dell laptops, and then 3 each year after, and obviously aftersales support/warranty, which Dell is usually really good with.

Being a volunteer, I can’t get reseller accounts from most wholesalers. Aside from going direct to Dell, does anyone have any suggestions where to get the best deal?

Evetech is probably the cheapest but apparently their support is really bad. So if you can get the laptops for cheap from there and then get support directly from Dell then it’s probably your best option.

However, it may be worthwhile contacting Dell, telling them your situation and see if they will sell to you. Who knows, it may just work.

Thanks. Seems the cheapest Dell laptop at Evetech is over our budget.

What about Laptop Direct https://dell.laptopdirect.co.za/?

I’ve never used laptop direct but they’ve been online for many years.

Yeah, and considering what I’ve read over at mybb its probably best to avoid Evetech.

Def stay away or at least be wary of Evetech, ESPECIALLY if you’re getting Dell due to good after-sales-service…then yea look elsewhere :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi guys, I recently changed my motherboard now a vast majority of my steam library games are not launching.

Anything I need to do? Some games launch just fine others don’t respond or crash to desktop.

when you say not launching, any way to be more specific? Could it be the drive that has the library is now not plugged in (when you swap mobo you unplug/replug sata cables, or you are a monster and store ALL your games on an m.2 and i hate you for it), could it be the drive letter has changed and steam is having a hard time?
could it be residual chipset drivers that weren’t uninstalled? Its never recommended to swap mobo and not reload windows, which would take care of that sort of thing.

Only thing to think of is to go to mobo website and get all available applicable OS drivers for it and run them.

Maybe Event viewer has more info if its actually appcrashes happening?

Also have you tried the steam repair feature?

Yea Evetech after sales is rubbish. I have a friend that bought a hard drive and it registered in the bios but nothing after that. it was sent back as its not working as it should. Day later gets a email saying its ready to collect nothing wrong ><

just be careful, maybe it does work. if it sees it in bios its possible it just hasn’t been initialized in disk management, until you do that it isn’t gonna show up as a drive in windows.

Yup I spoke to him to initialize the disk and but nothing just hangs and said 0 memory. He bought two hard drives and one of the two did not work.

All games are on one drive, not an m.2 haha! Some games launch just fine others not at all.
Could be residual chipset drivers, I got the same chipset mobo as my last one
which is pretty damn old. Think it’s Sandy bridge?

I’ll give it a go this eve!

Hmm maybe drivers or game file verification

Was going to suggest running “Verify Files” on the games that don’t start too.
