if it’s just the scanning that is a problem, get this: https://www.naps2.com/

Sometimes scanners just don’t want to work.
This third party software is what I always use when they are full of sh!t

Time for some screen related questions:

  1. What’s the best way or solution to clean my TV screen (looks kinda gloss)?
  2. What the best way or solution to clean my monitor (looks and feels matte)?
  3. How can I remove a scratch from my laptop screen (MacBook Retina display (glass?))?

For 1&2, use a damp cloth, just warm water. Make sure it doesn’t drip into the crevices. I usually have the drying cloth in the other hand and go Karate Kid style.
3. Replace the screen? I dunno, maybe someone has an idea like nail polish or something… Not sure if that’s a thing, but maybe there’s some kind of filler.

I was hoping there was some weird hackz0r fix like that, you know, like rub toothpaste on in circular motion.

This seems like a thread I should have stumbled upon much earlier than I did

I shall try be more active here

Thanks @Wyvern but this didn’t seem to apply to the Retina display.

So I did a very simple Google search…

Who would have thought I would get this result

See that never worked on CD’s for me :stuck_out_tongue:

I am also giving up on the fecking scanner - I cannot get it to work at all

Oh dear it just never stops, now last night I noticed on my steel series that I just had sound from the left earpiece and nothing on the right. And then testing other headphones, it was a general thing not just that. Reinstalled the audio drivers from the motherboard, now there is fuckall… Will start playing again with the drivers tonight to see what is up

windows 10 has a way of occasionally absolutely FUCKING up realtek drivers

The fix we’ve found is to fully uninstall the drivers from device management (like when you click uninstall, select yes when you want to remove drivers from system).
Then reboot and let windows “autodiscover” the drivers on next bootup.

It seems i needed to give it 4 restarts - I have sound on my headset!
Nothing from the speakers but I suspect it is my speakers dying

Any other speakers/ear/headphones you can test out?

On the headsets I have sound, just no speakers

Sorry, my bad. Assumed the above meant its not on the speaker side :stuck_out_tongue:

Or wait do you mean nothing from the built-in speakers but your sound is now fixed on headset.

If thats the case, windows 10 also likes to do the “Default device” thing. maybe fiddle with that

Every time there’s a new Nvidia update mine unhides and reactivates the Dell monitor with its speaker and sets that as my default audio device.

I don’t have any built in speakers. Just a few lose standing ones, but slowly the 2 back ones stopped producing sound and now the front ones joined the strike.

Do you plug your headphones and front speakers into the same port?
