Installed it, everything purring along nicely. Temps are looking good but then again the ambient is 14c, will have to wait for real summer weather :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Thanks again for the advice!

haha apologies for any confusion. I was just making light of @Shrike comment if you read it in context to mine it appears as though he may have been trying to respond to mine.

Anyway, I understand it was separate. I’ll go sit in my corner again.

PS: Thanks for the response though @aldyr

Lol @Beo , it’s not funny if you explain it. Unless you are Jimmy Carr.

Windows 10 or 11? Big new Win11 update rolling out at the moment is having odd issues with some Nvidia GPUs. Is being/has been patched and Nvidia releasing driver updates as needed. I had some dodgy goings on with my laptop yesterday.

Couldn’t change any screen settings, was stuck on 800x600, system could only see default generic Windows Display driver, took forever to boot up, and then couldn’t see half of the windows because they were displaying off the edge of the screen. Landed up doing a system restore back to last week.

At the same time, my desktop has had zero issues with the same update.

Ok so that makes, sense then, i got the new update, and a nvidia card. Now just to get thru the boot cycle to get into my windows.

Also morning people of the Palace have a great day

Try booting into Safe Mode maybe? The blank screen option where you have to power cycle your machine three times is weird, but it works to get you into Recovery Mode.

I will give that a try, so, far i just get a black screen wheb trying to boot and no amount of f2 or del will even get me into the bios

That isn’t a Windows then :frowning: Try disconnecting the PSU from the motherboard, and holding in the power button for 20 seconds or so. That helps clear power from capacitors and such.

Then plug it back in and try booting again.

Lemme try that

Ok that made no difference. Also troed forcing it into safemode.

Weirdly the front fans of the case does a 1/4 spin then stops.

No beeps or pings.

Last screen i had was

It got stuck there and nada

If its doing a start/stop of the fans/power, then it can be a range of things, from just needing a RAM reseat, or psu is not delivering enough power and needing to be replaced (useful if you can swap out psu’s to test if thats the case), or worse case scenario, its either the cpu or the motherboard board thats mulfunctioning…

Those are all the scenarios i’ve encountered when coming across the “cpu fan starts, then stops” issue.

Sadly the “easy” fixes are the rarity…its usually cpu/board that has popped :frowning:
Good luck!

Ive dropped it off at nima so he can take a look, he has spares to test with. But my gut tells me is my built in ssd again. Last windows update it did a similar thing. Its got some encryption on it and i cant fix it myself. At least i have tried most of the things that i could without spares to slot in. It did boot up 3 times where i got the windows updating message. And once into the desktop itself. But once there it freezes and now i just get the black screen. The monitor just tells me no input from hdmi.

Well, if you think it is the SSD (which it doesn’t sound like to me), you can take it out. You can get into your BIOS if everything else is fine without having any storage attached.

Which brand is the SSD? Because I had similar problems in the past.

I give up…
I took the pc apart, reseated everything and same issues. Took to nima. He just reseated the ram and now its working fine…

Haha well I’m glad it’s working now.

I often have YouTube playing in a pinned tab when doing other stuff. Why does it seem to pause the video when that tab is not in focus?

For instance; when switching back to the YouTube tab, I briefly see the last scene that was on before I switched.

CPU was running 97°C on a stock ryzen cooler. Changed it out for a Scythe Fuma cooler. Now it’s 65°C. 30°C drop :scream:
