Argh! It is just SO DAMNED hard to find a place that will sell me a 2000wh pure sine inverter without a battery. Most places sell them with crap batteries. ERGH!

Remember that 2000 Wh is your battery capacity, the inverter is your 400 - 500 W.

I don’t understand. Does that mean the inverter can charge the battery at 400-500w per hour and the battery can deliver 2000w per hour and after that hour it is 100% drained?

yea the inverter is usually measured in kva. if you looking at a w/h number on inverter, thats the attaached battery specs…
but i could entirely be talking out my ass. i am a pc nerd, not a sparky

The inverter can supply power at its rating, so if your pc, monitors, etc draws 500 W, you need an inverter of more than that rating.
If you’ve got 2000 Wh of battery capacity (note Wh, not W/h), you can run that setup at 2000 Wh / 500 W = 4 hours until the batteries are completely drained.

And I shouldn’t since doing so drops the life span of the batteries by a lot. From what I read, down to 20% for lifepo4? So a 4 hour loadshedding stint cannot be fully done with the inverter, will have to turn off and wait for half hour so for eskom to come back on and charge them up again.

Yep. But you’ll typically size the batteries so that you don’t need to. So if you need 80% DoD, it’s 500 W * 4 hours /0.8 = 2500Wh battery capacity required.

Well, after much reading, it seems ecoflow delta 2 is what I should aim for. It will only give me 2 hours but the recharge time means I can power up the gen and charge it for an hour. So out of a 4 hour stage 6 slot, 3 hours on the inverter and 1 hour on the gen = a LOT of fuel saved. It does mean that if I do that every day for 4 years, I will have to replace it. That is unlikely though. Will only need it like that for IF I have a 4 hour slot smack in the middle of my work or gaming day. R25k, eish, will have to save for a few months.

Is it just me or is this an incredibly good deal? It feels like I am seeing things, because if this deal is real, I might just cave right now and buy it…
EDIT: Ok my head has cleared a bit, and I have calmed down, I started to google the card, now checking youtube videos and so on, seems like this card isn’t from known manufacturers, however amazon reviews are good so far, and I am watching some youtube vids and reading comments to find out more about it, so far it seems legit.

Never heard of the manufacturer before, but based on that Amazon listing with a 4.4 rating from almost 300 reviews, and the fact that you could get it into SA for under R3000, yep it’s a great deal.
Also, the only other local supplier I can find that has a RX580 card from a known manufacturer in stock is this ASUS card on Wootware for almost R5300.
The unknown manufacturer is the only issue I’d have with it - no local after sales support if something does go wrong.

even more so with the fact that, that one from wootware has only 4gb vram, whilst the one on amazon is 8gb vram

The RX580 is a really old card (released in 2017) so any new cards from stores will be the last remaining dregs and carry inflated price tags.
If your budget is around R3k I’d rather go for a 2nd-hand RX6600 which will give you nearly double the performance of a RX580

according to my motherboard’s compatibility specs, I cannot get an RX 6 600, however I do want to look into that some more, if what the MB manufacturer says is true or not, my understanding has always been that you can basically use any GPU with any motherboard, since most of these components are backwards compatible.
For now however I am taking what the MB is stating with face value, for the hek of it, especially since I already know I will have to change my motherboard in the future for a new CPU and RAM when DDR5 gets into full swing.

I think it’s just because they haven’t updated with the latest bunch of GPU’s. I see that it can support 2080ti’s so I can guarantee that it will support a mid-range card like the RX6600.

Yes i saw that as well and concur, so i am aiming for the 6600 XT, saw it for around 6K on amazon, won’t be getting a gpu anytime soon however, as i have other more pressing and expensive things i need to get like new glasses and car repairs.
That price just startled me, as someone who does not make much that 580 just looked like quite the steal honestly

Is there any benefit to separating my wifi into 2.4 and 5 GHz, respectively, instead of having the router prioritise it?

Much older devices tend not to see 5ghz networks.
5ghz give more speed, but range is reduced
Comparatively
2.4ghz can be picked up by all devices,
2.4ghz has a longer pickup range, but is limited in speed.
So I would say if all your devices can pickup 5ghz, and they are in range, then feel free to disable your 2.4ghz signal, clears the air around you of unneeded wifi signals.
You could also separate the signals and give them their own passwords, give the slow signal password to people you don’t like, whilst you stay on the fast signal

Thats a very good summary. THe only thing i’d add, is that if you are in a congested type space (not a large suburb house but like apartment/complex), then 2.4ghz bandwidth might be a bit congested with many devices and points using up the channels. then its also better to have 5ghz on everything that can take it.
But ye, I basically have have mine on 2 different SSID’s, and my media streaming stuff is on the 5ghz and everything else is on 2.4ghz, purely because 5ghz doesnt penetrate the house walls so nice so moving around you lose signal quick compared to 2.4
I ran into problems when having the 2.4 and 5 both "share’ an ssid. your phones/devices are MEANT to be “smart” and move over to the “better” signal…but I find its very hit and miss, and they will really hang on and try on a shitty signal before switching to better channel or even different AP for that matter. Thats where its better if you just have a different SSID entirely and just manually switch to it
