Morning ya’ll.

@Entity - perhaps try checking out some of Notion’s templates. Not only Notion created templates are a great start but there is an abundance of community-created ones too.

Wow… what a sure-fire way to limit your customer base.

tbf, Mint’s whole spiel is that it integrates with your bank. That means adding each bank they want to serve to their system, which is quite a bit of work.

When in doubt, use 90210

Yeah, valid point. Would have been nice to surface that info or have a pre-requisite before signing up and getting my personal info.

Have you considered 22 Seven?

I’ve seen it pop up here and there, and I know I signed up (possibly years ago) and didn’t like the experience, perhaps due to lack of understanding. Might give it another bash, thanks.

Am I the only one offended by the banning of this advert? Toxic masculinity? Shall we open the can of worms that is First For Women insurance?

I just find it so overwhelming. I’ve connected my bank account and it just mimics all the transactions from there, I could have just looked at my statement. I understand it’s catergorising it and allocating amounts and all that jazz but to me it just compounds the confusion.

I guess I need more of a simplistic approach like a zero-based budgeting system or more envelope methods.

I am so over this nanny culture we live in now. Dude That is so irritating. I have decided that I will be that grumpy old lady calling kids out for getting participation trophies

This just pisses me off. The people in charge are just as bonkers as the Americans.

What exactly are you after? You want to make a budget or you want to track expenses?

I know I want more control of my money and managing it, the only way I can go about doing so is with a budget. I’m not great or even good at this sort of stuff. I don’t think I want to track expenses, I know what most of my expenses are. Suppose I’m just trying to live more within my means.

Oh my people are way too sensitive these days you can’t even do anything without offending someone in this day and age it’s kinda stupid.

I think doing a course on advertising is more about how not to piss off groups of people course

I use 22 Seven to review my recurring expenses. I’ve had my car insurance increase by 50% once without being notified, and only caught it 3 months after it happened.

The way I set up 22 Seven to help me track this is to set up all my different budgets. My insurance budget is my current premium + R1, so that if ever there is an increase, I get a notification. It’s up to you to set up your budget to sum to zero, though, but its not difficult at all.

You also get “nudges” which will tell you things like “You’ve got R500 left in your eating out budget for this month”, so I know at a glance I can safely grab take aways tonight.

Finally there is a decent monthly report which specifically shows Money in vs Money out, and highest expenses, but they are busy redesigning this.

Ive noticed the app has misplaced some catergories, upon changing or correcting this, does it automatically know the adjustment for next time that same merchant is swiped?

Example: Delish Grocer is categorised as groceries and I changed it to Eating-out, will it remember this in the future (cos I go there often) :stuck_out_tongue:

It should remember it if I remember the podcasts I’ve listened to correctly.

Thanks. I’m trying here so appologies for what may seem like stupid questions.
