One of the SABC journalists actually asked to speak to me after the interview to ask about my camera and Internet connection 
.
I told her the secret is symmetric fibre.
I’ve actually been using a basic, 6+ year old Microsoft 720p USB webcam. Skype lets me lock the autofocus, which is a problem on these cameras, and it does the background blur in software. No fancy tools needed!
