I remember I tried it just out of the pure frustration the itch was causing and was shocked when it worked. Then a few weeks later I saw a post online about it.

Most definitely works. Interestingly enough, I do the same for a heat rash, run very hot water over it.

Morning all.

Not sure if it’s just due to the change of season, but does anyone else have issues with flies?

Frequently I have at least 3 flies flyting around my pad on any given day.

We have learnt to rather do that than the drama of killing flies non stop
We also put a flykiller in the cupboard where we keep the bin so that we can try to prevent them breeding in there and have to clean maggots all day long.

Mornings!!

Can i just say again how much i dislike dealing with graphic designers!!!

what fcking use is a draft company profile if i cannot fcking edit it! And then i get told oh but we sent you a powerpoint presentation that you can edit.(that looks completely different from our company profile. ie format is different and the layout.).

now im sitting and copying and pasting sh!t from the one thing making my own one. like we paid this woman a sh1t ton of money to design for us.

Howdy peeps.

What formats were the finished designs given in? Surely at the end of the transaction you should be getting the png or svg exports, and the PSD or other design formats? The tricky thing as far as editing text would be if they converted the text to a stroke or svg shape, but it shouldn’t be this tricky

Seriously? I was doing that with my heat rash, but I stopped doing it because I assumed it was counter productive, so I’ve been taking cold showers… I mean, ya, it helps with the immediate itch, but doesn’t it just exacerbate the problem in the long run?

I’m really sick of these cold showers lol

Very unprofessional… Who TF makes business cards in powerpoint?!

They have given us some things in PNG format. But like our letterhead is locked, i cannot add our company registration number or change telephone numbers, because our numbers have changed. So everytime i need a change i have to email them to make the change for me and the change is never correct on the 1st try.
We asked them to do a concept company profile for us and provided them with another firms details(so we have an idea of what they come up with) as we were still finalising ours (because you cant just copy another firms profile etc, you have to write your own). Now it is finished and i want to change it and they want me to send them the word document with our text and they will imput it in the document. the same thing with our business cards they did 4 concepts and told them we will likely be 4 employees (cant give them the names because we are still n the process of hiring ppl) now we have decided on 2 version and want to be able to add the ppl’s details when they start and then have the cards printed. But no, any changes needs to be sent to them to make. I have sent the business cards to a printer to have them printed but now i want just 1 person’s business card printed but there are cards for 4 ppl in one file.

I have also already asked twice for her t’s and c’s re designs and she has still not given them to me. i am so irritated.

no business cards are not in power point. we will be doing presentations to company’s to be on their legal panels etc. so thats fine we can add what we want etc.

But the business profile will be used on our website and will be added with our presentation for the panel for company x and company y etc.

they arent that small… they did the marketing and design for Mythos…and signature restaurant

If they are big enough to have a legal department, then ya, they should have these things in place.

Did your boss just pay them without signing a contract? Maybe you could look into getting your money back, then contacting a company that is willing to design something similar with the stipulation you get the original editable files…

You know my boss just calls ppl and gets them to do stuff for her without actually checking stuff properly. She is also very much pro female so she only uses companies that are female owned etc and ppl that she dealt with in the past etc. this lady in particular my boss has known for years… so ja…and my boss doesnt want to get involved i must just sort it out

I see. From the context that you’re providing, it’s a bit trickier than I thought.

What’s tricky here is that it sounds like your overall engagement is not complete in the sense that your side was still figuring out details, and on their side, they were working with incomplete info as far as how the final product will look with the finalized details.

Is the transaction complete? Or rather, what’s the agreement, a retainer or the final product? This affects what files you as a client would likely get during the process and at the end of the process. If your transaction isn’t complete and still a work in progress, then you’re likely not getting editable files, to either cover their asses as far as the change process goes, they’d likely not want to account for changes outside of their chain, because if your changes screw something up (trust and competency doesn’t matter here, they’re covering their asses), they’ll end up having to do the changes you wanted anyway, so in theory, they want a less chaotic process or chain of changes even if the communication element of it is tedious.

This is at least the logic I’ve seen when I was at an agency (a dev, but worked with designers).

If it is complete though (payment and product delivered), you should get all the files.

Edit note: by cover their asses I don’t mean files getting corrupted exactly, I mean say you make a bunch of changes and then either one of those changes breaks something in the design, they have their files to work with but their files and your files could diverge so much that parsing through what is and isn’t part of the final product becomes a bit murky and potentially pricier for you as the client, and can legit be a headache for the designer

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like your boss doesn’t learn from her mistakes.
