I’ll extend any second opinions and the like to the wife as well. When I told her, she immediately asked questions with long words that I can’t remember about what type of aenemia you have… you get differenttypes?!

I didn’t know there were different varieties of it either  I have no idea what I had other than I had a Haemoglobin level of 5.5 g/DL at the time, which allegedly is a bit very kak.

Morning people. Don’t grow up. Growing up means getting older and your body breaking. Sitting at the doctor hoping he’ll fix my broken body, specifically this damn gout! Happy Tuesday to me…

Yeah, you’re going to need to need that aspect when you have a kid. I love activing like a kid with my kids. People may look strangely at me but I don’t give a damn.

One of the best things about being a dad with younger kids. I miss it, my own kids now look funny at me when I act like a child, I really wish they could have stayed young!

It’s alsmost an excuse to act childish or even foolish. I love running around a mall or an open space chasing Samuel around and pinching his boudjies.

The other day we were in Canal Walk, and Samuel got to experience an escalator for the first time. I tell you, we were riding that thing like it was a carnaval ride.

Sounds like a Trevor Noah bit.

BTW, one can act childish without kids.

True but with your kids around you can tell your inner behaviour regulator that you are doing it for the good of your children, so it can shut up for a bit.

Sjoe, took me this long to completely wake up. I was struggling to sleep last night but when I finally fell asleep after about 1am, I slept till 7 like a log, took the recycling out to be collected, climbed back in bed and slept till 9. Now I feel rested.

The second jab actually knocked me harder than I realised, no sore arm, but I had flu like symptoms till today. Still a little light cough and sore body but it feels like the worst is over.

Gout is usually an indication of high uric acid. That’s been my case, anyway. I seem to have genetically high uric acid levels. I got put onto Puricos by an specialist physician (“internis”) years ago and the problem went away. I don’t drink alcohol or usually eat foods with high purine counts, so it kinda ruled that out. Still, the Puricos was the miracle worker in my case and I haven’t had an episode of gout now in at least 5 years.

What you should watch out for are kidney stones associated with high uric acid levels. You might not get uric acid stones specifically (like the 2 times I’ve had kidney stones), but they can form combination stones when forming with other minerals in your kidneys (like calcium). Again, something like Puricos helps to manage that, together with enough fluid intake to constantly flush your kidneys.
