The Formula 1 Thread 🏎

That it was made 5 years ago makes even funnier! Thanks for planting the lousiest ear worm I’ve had in a long while…

Max, Max, Max, Supermax, Max, Max….

Arrggh!

The officiating in rugby and F1 is putting me off sport a bit. Maybe the break will do me good but for now I’m not all that keen to continue watching.

I totally agree with Soli. This year has been a great year for the sport. We’ve had some amazing results, some tremendous on and off track drama, different teams winnings, 8/10 teams being on the podium. It’s been the best F1 season in more than a decade.

But Michael Massi must be fired. He is a total idiot that does not know what F1 rules are, he has no control over any of the team, and he has been less than useless this year. The sport, world and civilization would be infinitely better without him in F1.

The FIA also needs to get this Stewarding process sorted out. I cannot understand how a sport with this much money could be so impossibly inept at enforcing rules and ensuring all drivers behave on track. This is motor racing, not WWE. Netflix already can make a season exciting with Drive to Survive, you don’t need to artificially create drama and decide a whole bloody championship based on what would be more entertaining. Most of the FIA decisions these past few races have all been for the “show”, and not for the sport and it’s integrity. If things go on like this, we might as well drop all pretense and become and WWE of motor sport.

I honestly hope Merc’s inevitable court case brings this to light, and that sweeping changes happens within the Steward, and that Massi is fired. Next year we have a new car and potentially all new teams fighting at the top, we don’t need this utter bullshit from the FIA.

At least in chess the rules are clear. :stuck_out_tongue:

I believe each protest costs €2000 and an appeal costs €6000

Bit harsh, no? Total idiot? Who would you prefer to replace him?

Could it be done better, yes, will we learn from this, hopefully… will we get MORE rules because of this…?

Shame, I feel for the guy, but this is pretty funny :joy:

He has a tough job, I’m not sure many could do better. I don’t agree with everyone knee-jerking, calling for him to be fired.

You’re not much,
if you’re not Dutch!

Also, @Nosferatie feels strongly enough about the race to come out of retirement!

It was all part of Masi’s master :b:lan to cause drama. More drama = more views.

It is the one sport that I have been passionate about since I was a child. I have been actively watching F1 since 1988. I watch my hero die on TV, I watched many highs and lows of the sport.

I agree with most, neither should have lost last night, but in the end, Max won and like him or not, he’s been up there all season. Lewis is the GOAT and made the season what it was. To me this was the closest we had to a 1989/1990 season with Senna v Prost in terms of the head to head battle, the polarizing drama, the hero, the villain…

In the end we feared another Senna v Prost ending, in a way it happened, just not Senna v Prost style.

To next year…

Valterri added a 7 to the front number of the 2019 Alfa, slapped on some 18” rims and got down to some practice with his new team at Yas Marina.

More images here of Zhou and Russell too:

This sort of race-baiting bullshit grates me beyond belief. I know it’s just an opinionated readers’ letter, but that The Sowetan would publish such drivel is shameful.*

Hamilton failure was engineered by F1 bosses to shield Schumacher’s legacy

This supports the notion that the powers that be are trying by all means to protect Michael Schumacher’s legacy from that black man Lewis Hamilton.

Remember, if Hamilton had won, he’d be sitting on eight championships and one more than Schumacher. If you know anything about F1, you’d know that it’s a predominantly white sport, so Lewis just unsettles that power base.

Is this the same white power base that Lewis has been gradually helping dismantle for years now? The same one that has elevated him to the highest paid position in the sport, made him a globally recognised superstar, given him thousands of prime time broadcast hours, supported, adopted, and encouraged his social change initiatives. That power base?

Yeah nah, sorry Zakes Nakedi from Ennerdale, but the only racist thing here is you and that overly salty chip you’re carrying around on your shoulder.

Schumacher doesn’t need his legacy “shielded” - his legacy is untouched by anything that goes on now. It’s his fecking legacy, you halfwit.

That is a beyond brain dead take.
The fact that Latifi crashed to protect the Schumacher legacy IS LITERALLY THE MEME.
This guy ate the whole onion and he is still convincing himself it’s a delicious and righteous apple.
Sadly, he’s not alone which is the troubling part of all of this.

And who was the racer who battled Latifi forcing him onto the dirt thus ensuring that he would spin and crash???
