hehe they are teasing us

Its a 99% chance for Lewis to renew

Because they have both seats open next year currently. It will be interesting to see who their second driver will be

:de: Hallo aus Deutschland! Willkommen zurĆ¼ck am Hockenheimring! :de:

Having missed out on a Grand Prix last year because, moneyā€¦ Der GroƟe Preis von Deutschland is back on the F1 calendar where it belongs this year. Hopefully the fans pack the stands for the whole weekend and the Hockenheim owners make truckloads of money and we never have to see it removed again!

Das Programm:
Capture

Pirelli bring the Mediem, Soft and Ultrasofts for the weekend:

And the Hockheim Circuit guide:

And Seb showing us around the circuit (and claiming to be a sim racing newbā€¦)

And some stats to keep you entertained between practice sessions

  • Lewis Hamilton won the last Hockenheim race in 2016 by leading from start to finish, and he has led more laps here (121) than any other active driver (Fernando Alonso is next on 117).

  • All of Valtteri Bottasā€™ four podium finishes this season have been for second place, and his only Hockenheim podium was also for second place in 2014 (when he also started second for Williams).

  • Despite sitting third on the all-time laps led list (3,235), Sebastian Vettel has only ever led three laps on this track in his career.

  • Kimi Raikkonen comes into this race having been outqualified by Vettel at the last nine races, but heā€™s only been outqualified by a team mate at Hockenheim once in the last 17 years (by Felipe Massa in 2008).

  • Speaking of qualifying, Daniel Ricciardo has never been outqualified by a team mate at Hockenheim, but he trails Max Verstappen 7-3 this season and has been beaten by the Dutchman in qualifying at the last four races.

  • Having finished 10th at Silverstone, Sergio Perez has also finished 10th in the last two German Grands Prix at Hockenheim, and has never failed to score on this track, having also been 6th for Sauber in 2012.

  • Although he has a 100% finishing record here, Nico Hulkenberg has never finished in the top six in any Formula 1 race in Germany (he secured 7th at Hockenheim in both 2014 and 2016).

  • Fernando Alonso took his most recent pole position at the 2012 German Grand Prix for Ferrari, 116 races ago. The Spaniard is also tied with Hamilton for the most German GP wins by active drivers (three each), and has won two of the last four Hockenheim F1 races (2010, 2012).

  • Kevin Magnussen has scored in three consecutive races for the first time since the 2016 Russian, US and Brazilian GPs, and both he and Romain Grosjean have reached Q3 at the last three Grands Prix in a row, something no Haas driver had managed at any time before in team history.

  • Sergey Sirotkin won the 2016 GP2 (now F2) feature race from pole position with the fastest lap (the last of his three wins in the series), and the Russian followed it up with second place in the sprint race, making Hockenheim the most successful circuit of his GP2 career.

Oh and something else I just found which may interest others:

Itā€™s 152 pages and readable online or as a PDF download (clocks in at 80MB). And actually pretty damn good.

(I am now determined to find some time to go trawling through the F1.com site find out if they made similar electronic programmes for the other races.)

EDIT: Found some more:

yaaaay, Hockenheim is back! My alltime favourite track.

Sadly I prefer the track before the redesign happened in the early 2000ā€™s, but it still has a special place in my heart as a gamer. As i fondly remember those big trees on the left side that is still there

Goeie fok, I donā€™t know how they justify these salaries compared with other drivers.

Not too surprising; However I donā€™t think Lewis will see the 2021 season. I honestly believe heā€™ll announce his retirement at the end of the 2020 season.

Insane indeed. Thatā€™s a paycheck of 1.4 Billion ZARs over 2 years. For one person. And that doesnā€™t even include the added millions he makes from sponsorship and endorsements.

100% agree. In fact, Iā€™d go so far as to suggest that if the rest of this season turns bad for him, and he and Merc struggle to get back to the top through the 2019 season, that he may even abandon the contract before 2020.

That was last year - I didnt even realise Vettel was that highly paid. I actually am sad at the difference between the no 1 and no 2 driver.

https://www.totalsportek.com/f1/formula-1-driver-salaries-revealed/

I think a lot of drivers will retire before or at the end of the 2020 season due to the rule changes being implemented for the 2021 season and beyond. The biggest changes for the 2021 season is yet another shift on engines effectively with simpler, smaller, cheaper hybrids with some fuel limits and standardized parts.

I also think we might lose a longstanding team like Williams or McLaren in the next 5 years.

I can see Williams and Mclaren moving to Formula E rather.

Lance apparently earns a $1.5m p.a salary.

but he is still a stroll so he has money from else where

I would like to know how much he is paying for that seat

And Bottas is signed again - that was the obvious choice

But I wonder how much they are offering him to play backup
