Started watching The Good Place this weekend. Watched the whole first season on Saturday and half of season 2 on Sunday. Such an addictive show.
I can’t remember how old are your kids? Some of it towards the end scared even me the first time round
17 and 11
Then you are fine
So much of want to see!
The Mandalorian – Official Trailer 2 | Disney+ | Streaming Nov. 12
Yaas, that looks pretty good, actually.
We just finished season 2 of Barry. Such a wacky show, but I find it very good!
Now we are busy watching Living With Yourself. Equally crazy setup and weirdly intriguing!
Watched it on the weekend. Enjoyed it a lot. Nicely balanced between silly slapstick and darkly humourous, with a good dose of the sardonic thrown in. Bit of a soft ending, but very obviously setting things up for another season.
How would one obtain this series in deepest darkest Africa? We don’t get Disney+ yet hey?
Yeah, the Disney+ 2-year global rollout presentation earlier this year glaringly had zero mention of the entire continent of Africa, never mind just South Africa, in its discussion of expansion to “major regions around the world” through 2020 and 2021.
I guess there’s the possibility of using a VPN and US/UK credit card again, like some did in the early Netflix days.
But let’s be honest here… I think most locals who have the bandwidth will quietly slide their moral feelings on the subject into the background for a while, put on an eye patch, raise the Jolly Roger and visit the deeper and darker parts of the Internet to find all of the video loot they want.
You wrote all that without using the p-word!
Par…par… Parsnip, persimmon, parsley…
PARLAY! That’s the one.
So funny to watch customer wallets in action:
- Netflix reduces piracy
- Other companies jump on the streaming bandwagon, netflix loses series it can show
- Piracy increases
I think I should rewatch the first season.
Personally I’d prefer a Further Adventures of Arya and Needle sequel series, but this will do in the interim…
I enjoyed the first three episodes a lot. You do have to suspend all logical thinking for a few technical things. But overall it is a great show.
His dark materials. I am in love with this series so far, the acting is really good.
Shoooooooooooooosh dont spoil it
We are keeping it for Dec holidays (I cannot wait!)
And thankfully for a change they’ve used an actual South African (Arnold Vosloo) to play the role of the big bad South African mercenary Jost Van Der Byl.
I’m sure it’ll be a fine season, but I must use this opportunity to nitpick how South Africans are represented in Hollywood (and the Western AAA games industry):
(a) Does anyone know a South African with the name “Jost”?
(b) Why are WAMs always the bad guy? It’s becoming a trope. Lethal Weapon 2 kinda makes sense given the times, but it happened in Black Panther too, and WAMs made up the evil mercenary force in Uncharted 4, amongst others. I guess DiCaprio and Copley played anti-heroes in Blood Diamond and District 9 rather than villains, which is a step up.
Edit: I should clarify that what makes Jost in Jack Ryan interesting is that he’s not the bad guy.
Bonus round: Hollywood and game studios seem to think there is one “South African accent”, like with the Ozzies and Kiwis. But that’s a rant for another day.
Update: Found the trope
