Back in the day, we used to have a charity rubber duck race where you could buy a rubber duck, each with a unique number that you get on a ticket. If your duck wins, you win <whatever>, and the proceeds go to some charity.

Apparently some years ago, a bunch of the ducks decided ā€œDuck itā€¦ Letā€™s ditch the course and do our own thingā€ and breached the barriers.

Then thereā€™s this:

Itā€™s Thursday, 14 January 2021 (W2/D14)

Today is:

:star: Dress Up Your Pet Day - Is there anything cuter than a dog in dungarees? Or a kitten in actual mittens? Started in 2009 by Colleen Paige, an animal behaviorist, Dress Up Your Pet Day is intended to be a way for pet owners and their fur babies to bond. On the absolute condition that it does not cause your pets any stress (mine hate the idea, and flatly refuse to be cute in clothes), dress them up and show them off. Pics please!

:star: Hot Pastrami Sandwich Day - Tracing itā€™s origins back to the Romanian Jewish community, the pastrami sandwich has become a New York City culinary staple. Hot Pastrami Sandwich Day is a celebration of the mouthwatering edible treat. This delicious delicacy is traditionally created using thin slices of piping hot pastrami served on mustard slathered rye bread, and topped with fresh, crunchy pickle slices. But chefs of all statures love to put their own twist to it, and the internet is full of recommended variations. (Click the link, see for yourself.)

And now Iā€™m hungry!

Dress up your pet. Eat a hot pastrami sandwich. Both of these are wholesome activities that could even be combined into a dress up dinner party for you and your pets. Go get yourselves all dressed up, and have a terrific Thursday! :+1:

Sydney only likes wearing his harness because it means walks. However, we have some pics of him looking dapper in his original adoption photos:

I think I will. Can the pastrami be cold and then you toast the sandwich, or do you heat the pastrami?

I wonā€™t lie, as much as I love bonnets, I still want someone to knit me a cap like Jaynesā€¦

Traditionally you do yes. Itā€™s even in the nameā€¦ :grinning: But personally I too prefer it cold, so go for it.

Hey itā€™s a fair question. The pastrami gets hot when you toast the sandwich!

I donā€™t have pastrami or rye bread at home, but Iā€™m really tempted to pop out and go get some. Iā€™ll then nuke the pastrami for 2-3 minutes, toast the rye until itā€™s nice and crispy and then slather some hot mustard. Iā€™ll hold the pickles though, never been a fan of cucumbers soaked in evil.

Bring me some please?!

Today is:

:star: Appreciate A Dragon Day :dragon: - Whether itā€™s Smaug, Drogon, Viserion, Rhaegal, Elliot, Toothless, Puff the Magic, or our very own @Wyvern, today is the day to get your dragon appreciation on. Started in 2004 by author Donita K. Paul to celebrate the release of her book DragonSpell, Appreciate A Dragon Day encourages people to explore these mythical creatures, and their cultural significance in the society and history.:dragon:

:star: International Hot and Spicy Foods Day :hot_pepper: - Sticking with the fire and heat theme, today is also International Hot and Spicy Foods Day. I canā€™t because my stomach is not able to deal with spicy foods. Also, Iā€™m a wimp. But I reckon thereā€™s many in these parts who do appreciate a hit of heat in their dishes. International Hot and Spicy Foods Day sparks a wildfire of events, from habanero-eating challenges to fancy-dress contests and cook-offs of popular recipes. Among serious aficionados, it also re-kindles the great debate: which chili pepper tops the official Scoville heat scale? Enjoying a touch of heat in our cooking is a worldwide human trait, so what better day to discover a different cuisine? Thai, Indian, Creole and Caribbean dishes are all famous for their blends of aromatic and spicy ingredients.:hot_pepper:

Have a spicy and hot Saturday! :+1:
