Today is: International Name Your Car Day
Name Your Car Day has been set aside especially for those of you who may have forgotten this little ritual.
Itâs very common for people to name their boats so why is it that some people forget to name their car? Letâs face it, our cars do a lot for us and many of us would be lost without them so why not take the time to think of a good name for your daily companion. If it werenât for him/her how would you get to work? How would you go shopping? How would you take the kids to soccer practice?
Yes, they are always there for us whenever we need them. Who could ask for more dependability than this.
On Name Your Car Day take the time to choose a name that your car will be proud of.
Name Your Car Day is celebrated in many different places all over the world. If you think about it, a lot of us spend more time with our cars than we do most humans. They take us to and from work. They are there for us when we need to get somewhere in an emergency. They never let us down, and so it is only right that we at least award them with a name, right?
Naming our cars makes them seem human! We can remember all of the famous cars in films, especially from the latest Disney and Pixar Cars films. Not only this, but naming our cars can make them seem more intelligent while also helping us to feel safer in the process too. Some people even enjoy talking to their cars while they are on the road, especially when taking a long drive. After all, it can get a bit lonely right? When you consider this, it is not difficult to see why naming your car is a good idea!
Needless to say, the best way to celebrate Name Your Car Day is by naming your car! Shock! But how do you go about naming your vehicle? There are a number of different approaches and strategies that you can use in order to come up with the best name for your car, so we are going to take a look at some suggestions to give you a helping hand.
Firstly, if you do a quick search online, you will see that there are a lot of auto websites that have even set-up Name Your Car generators. All you need to do is input a few details and they will come up with a name suggestion for you, so you could try one of these.
If you want to come up with a name yourself, there are a number of different things that you should think about. The first thing you need to do is consider the personality of your car. What does your vehicle look like? Is it a young car or an old one? Does it look like a girl or a boy? Is it a classic car? Perhaps it is a sports vehicle?
These are all the sort of things that you should consider when trying to figure out what sort of personality your car has. If you are someone who likes puns and rhymes, you may want to use this when thinking of a name, for example, Rhonda the Honda.
Not only do you need to think about the sort of personality your car has, but you need to consider your own personality as well. After all, there is no point calling your car Speedy, Dash, or Lighting, if youâre someone who is constantly ridiculed for driving slow. Well, you could choose that sort of name out of irony, but it is best to go for something that is in line with your personality too. For example, you can opt for a quirky name if you are a bit of an extrovert. You can also use your loves and interests to think of a name as well. For example, if you are a big fan of a sports team or a lover of music, you can try and tie this into the name you give your vehicle.
You can also use the letters that are in your number plate in order to give you a bit of direction regarding what sort of name you should give your vehicle.
How about using the color of your vehicle in order to choose the right name for your car? For example, if your car is white, you may decide to call it something like White Rabbit, Marshmallow, Jon Snow, or Frost. If your vehicle is black, some options include Night, Crow, and Black Cat.
If you are a massive fan of video games, books, or movies, you could opt for a fictional character name. This is also a choice to consider if you are someone who is interested in myths and legends.
So, do you have a name for your car? Share it, and the reasons behind it. If you havenât named your car, itâs time you did!

Today is: Techies Day
Is it possible that you have been having a certain issue with that darn computer lately? Some strange sound coming from within the case? Is your laptop freezing? Or getting too hot while sitting on your lap?
Do you have an important web presentation later but you canât seem to get your webcam working? Is the network running incredibly slow and you canât quite figure out why? Trying to print a document and your laptop just wonât talk to the printer?
If any of these scenarios sounds at all familiar, you probably need a techie in your life! Techies are those wonderful people who know their way around the technology that is inseparable from our daily lives. And as time passes, they become more and more vital to survival in this modern age.
Techies Day celebrates these talented folks and everything they do to keep computers and other technical gadgets working every day.
Techies Day was originally developed for the purpose of helping high school students become educated about careers in technology. It was first established in 1998 by techies.com with the support of CNET Networks.
With the awareness that the world of the future will see ever greater integrations of technology into our day-to-day lives, there is the knowledge that with those innovations will come the need for the truly technologically savvy. The world is in dire need of those men and women, boys and girls, who know their way around this technology-driven world and can help those who are perhaps less knowledgeable find their way.
The bane and balm of a techie is obsolescence, the unavoidable process by which current technology becomes obsolete as new tech gets developed and integrated into our lives. But, no matter how long their inventions last, techies certainly deserve to be appreciated for everything that they have doneâand for what they will do in the future!
Thanks for keeping us up and running techies! Have a great Sunday!
My carâs name has always been James.
Be sure to celebrate the day with phrases like: âHave you tried turning it off and on again?â

Today is: Vodka Day
We havenât had a booze day for a while now, so why notâŚ?
Vodka Day is a great time to raise your glasses to one of the worldâs favourite alcoholic drinks. While vodka is often associated with Russia, and some of the finest and most expensive vodkas in the world come from there, it is a drink that is produced in many countries and enjoyed all over the world.
Vodka is the Slavic word for âlittle waterâ and is traditionally made by mixing water with distilled grains or potatoes, although today many popular brands add flavorings such as fruits and sugars.
It is believed that this drink first came into existence in the Middle Ages, perhaps sometime during the 8th or 9th centuries. Vodka has slightly different varieties that seem to have originated not only in Russia, but also in Poland as well as in Sweden. It seems that some of the first people to distill this drink from grains or potatoes were religious monks.
Records indicate that the word âvodkaâ was used in Russia sometime in the late 14th century. It is known that the Genoese ambassadors brought vodka to Moscow to present it to the Grand Duke in 1386. After another few hundred years, after the Russian Revolution in 1917, vodka began to spread throughout Europe.
It wasnât until after WWII that the popularity of vodka began to grow all throughout the world, particularly when it landed firmly on the shores of North America. Although it was originally almost tasteless and odorless, over the last decades that has changed. Creative differences in flavours, aromas, combinations and varieties have taken over the production of vodka around the world.
But its neutral flavor has continued to contribute to its popularity as it makes an incredible base for a host of different mixed drinks and cocktails.
Purists of this distilled drink are known to only enjoy vodka neat, but it makes the perfect mixer and is the main ingredient in many favourite cocktails, including the Martini, the Screwdriver and the Bloody Mary.
The Moscow Mule, Cosmopolitan, Vodka Gimlet, White Russian and so many more drinks have become standard for bartenders at restaurants and in homes all throughout the world. All thanks to Vodka.
Have a most excellent Monday! And remember, when all else fails, when all seems lost, thereâs always vodka!

Today is: World Teachers Day
World Teachersâ Day aims to raise awareness of the importance of the role played by teachers all over the world. They dedicate their lives, often for a very low salary, to making an impact on the way children learn and grow and turn into adults.
The responsibility for educating future generations is not a light one by any means, so show some for these dedicated and important people not just on Teachersâ Day, but throughout the whole year!
Different types of days have been created in honor of teachers all over the world. The idea became popular back in the 19th century when various local educators were honored. They may have happened on various dates but they have one thing in common: the celebration and appreciation of teachers.
Putting all of this together, UNESCO (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) proclaimed that the first World Teachersâ Day would be celebrated on October 5, 1994.
Various ceremonies and honours are given for teachers of the world who have surpassed expectations for the profession. Many countries hold competitions where special educators can be nominated to win the important title of teacher of the year.
World Teachersâ Day is now celebrated in more than 100 countries.
According to Google Trends, over the last 18 months, searches for âmissing my studentsâincreased 150%, and searches for âbulletin board ideasâ dropped to an all-time low in April 2020.
Some of the top questions searched were things like âHow can educators support students who are struggling with distance learning?,â âHow can students and teachers build a useful virtual classroom community?â and even âWhat does remote learning mean?â Clearly, educators â at home or in the classroom â have had plenty of challenges. So for this World Teachersâ Day, we put together a place where you can see other education and learning-related searches and trends from the past year.
Dozens of ways are possible to tell a teacher how much they are appreciated. And the more creative the way, the more they will appreciate the gesture! From giving them a card or gift to writing a poem or creating a piece of artwork, teachers are happy when they know that their students are learning something and their work is not in vain.
We owe so much to all the teachers in our lives. Let them know how appreciated they are!

Today is: Mad Hatter Day
Mad Hatter Day celebrates the Mad Hatter, from Alice In Wonderland. The original picture of the Mad Hatter by John Tenniel in Aliceâs Adventures In Wonderland (more commonly known as Alice In Wonderland, by Lewis Caroll) always depicts him wearing a hat, bearing the note âIn This Style 10/6â. Although we know this is really an order from the time the picture was drawn to mean a hat in that style cost 10 Shillings and Sixpence, we take this as inspiration to act in the style of the Mad Hatter on 10/6 (In the UK this would point to the tenth of June, but as the day was founded in America it is the 6th of October).
Mad Hatter Day is the perfect opportunity for you to bring out your daft side. If you have ever seen Aliceâs Adventures in Wonderland or read the book, then you will know all about the Mad Hatter. He is a silly character, who was originally illustrated by Sir John Tenniel. He is a funny character that is known for his ridiculous riddles. Heâs a lovable character, and one that brings us in tune with our silly side. That is what Mad Hatter Day is all about!
Did you know that the Mad Hatter is actually just called the Hatter? Itâs simply that everyone else refers to him as the Mad Hatter! The character is not only a part of the Aliceâs Adventures in Wonderland series, but he has been featured in a lot of other media as well. This includes Once Upon a Time, Pandora Hearts, Alice in the Country of Hearts, Shrek: The Musical, Futurama, Aliceâs Warped Wonderland, and even Batman.
In 1986 some computer-folk in Boulder, CO celebrated a general day of silliness, inspired by the drawings of the Mad Hatter by John Tenniel in Alice In Wonderland. It was announced that year on computer networks, becoming more popular as people realised its value â some people did less damage by celebrating silliness than if they had done their jobs.
In 1988 it was first recognised as an official holiday and received its first national press coverage.
âMad as a hatterâ is a colloquial phrase used in conversation to refer to a crazy person. In 18th and 19th century England mercury was used in the production of felt, which was used in the manufacturing of hats. People who worked in these hat factories were exposed daily to trace amounts of the metal, causing some workers to develop dementia caused by mercury poisoning. Thus, the phrase became popular as a way to refer to someone who was perceived as insane.
Watch or read Alice in Wonderland, wear a mad hat, have a Mad Hatters Tea Party, and be generally silly today!

Today is: Bathtub Day
Thereâs a number of bathtub related days - thereâs a Read in the Bathtub Day early in the year, a Bathtub Party Day in late November, even an International Bathtub Day back in June. But none of them would be possible without today - Bathtub Day.
In a world in which demands on your time are high it is reassuring to know there is one day in the year when you can reclaim the right to relax at your leisure. Bathtub Day is more than just an excuse to while away the time as you immerse yourself in the warm waters of your bathroom; it is a day to remember and rejoice in the introduction of the modern bathtub as we know it in England in 1828.
Bathtub Day encourages people to immerse themselves inside of their bathtub and truly relax. After all, is there any better way to unwind?
Did you know that there are actually a lot of benefits that are associated with taking a bath as well? Taking a bath can help to sooth your joints and muscles. Moving and stretching in water has been shown to have a low impact on the bones, muscles, and joints, yet being extremely successful in providing you with a good workout through resistance.
There are other benefits as well to consider. For example, a warm bath will help the blood in your body to flow with greater ease, which then enables you to breathe slower and deeper, especially when you take in the steam. Taking a spa or hot bath can kill bacteria and enhance immunity, as well as relieving the symptoms of flu and cold. Bathing can also help your nervous system and your brain health as well.
Did you know that taking a bath can also help you in terms of breathing easier? If you are immersed in the water, with your head out of course, this can have a positive impact on your oxygen intake and your lung capacity. There are two factors that aid this. This is the pressure the water puts on your lungs and chest, as well as the temperature of the water.
Bathing has also been proven to assist with heart health. Your core temperature is also going to be optimal through taking a bath and you can balance your hormones too. If that was not enough bathing will cleanse and moisturize your hair, skin, and eyes. By being exposed to fluid through bathing and steaming, you are going to ensure that all of your body gets the hydration it needs. As the human body is mainly made of water, this is why you need to make sure that you drink a lot of it.
Nevertheless, soaking in water is also highly beneficial. This can be enhanced by adding certain salts or oils to your bath.
Go full self indulgent today - bubbles, soothing bath salts, soft music, candles, the whole thing! Enjoy your bathtub soak, and have a terrific day!
Am I odd? If I take a bath and soak, I always go for a shower directly afterwards
