Picked up and started reading Buyology.
A short little read by James Allen from 1903. The literature has gone into the public domain so someone I follow made a convenient website of the texts.
~1 hour read
As a Man Thinketh
By James Allen, 1903
This takes urban fantasy to whole new level:
Since then, I finished the first Mistborn book and I liked it! Some nice twists on the fantasy genre, and Allomancy is such a cool concept!
Then I went back to Murakami - Norwegian Wood. It is definitely in his style, but a bit more simple in its plot and themes. An absolute joy to read, with some delightful metaphors and ideas, even though it covered heavy themes.
Now I’m back to Sanderson, reading The Well of Ascension.
So I’ve been reading a lot in the past 2 years, but not really fiction. However, I see there are some non-fiction books mentioned here, so I guess I’ll start adding to here as well. My books is usually alternate between research, religion, science, money and lots of things in-between.
I’ve recently started with:
I usually avoid self-help books, but this is not that (not thus far anyway). It is actually surprisingly interesting. I’m a few pages into the first chapter and he has already covered studies into various animal behaviour and human psychology. I always find it fascinating why people think and operate the way they do, so I’m quite glad I gave the book a chance.
We have been reading Harry Potter and The Philosopher Stone as a family.
I have been listening to The Mountain is You on Audible.
Busy reading Atlas Shrugged.
I’m reading Confessor, Sword of Truth, Book 11 by Terry Goodkind. This will finish the main Sword of Truth story.
Busy reading “Dominion: How the Christian Revolution Remade the World”, written by British historian Tom Holland (no relation to spiderman).
The book is over 500 pages, all in small print which is taking forever to read, but it’s interesting. Each chapter basically takes a specific year and sets the stage in a lot of detail so that you can get a proper idea of what it would have felt like to live in that time period (politics, religion, customs, etc.). I’m almost finished with chapter 6: 492AD.
Busy reading Book 3 Mistborn - The Hero of Ages. Enjoying it, really the first Sanderson books I’ve read.
The Mistborn series is one of his best. I enjoyed it a lot.
Oooh the gateway drug to all things Sanderson
I started with Mistborn (and loved it) and then moved onto Sanderson’s other series, his epic fantasy series The Stormlight Archive is a modern masterpiece.
I recently finished reeding the fourth an final novel from the Year of Sanderson Kickstarter. All four were excellent stories, Tress from the Emerald Sea was my favourite but the others were also great.
I want to increase my reading habits this year. I’ve become a very lazy reader to the point where I feel tired once I start reading and only a few pages in.
I read the Mistborn trilogy recently too, it was good!
I’m re-reading The Wind on Fire Trilogy which were books I loved when I was in school. I’m on the second book and it still holds up!
Next up I’ll be reading the Children of D’Hara Series by Terry Goodkind.
Finished read New Spring again.
Next up The Alloy of Law.
