Reading this again. Love the book, got a family member into it and they subsequently bought the trilogy.

Ironically I gave up half way during book 3…

Ive read both of Gunther Steiners books this holiday- it was brilliant to read.

Starting book 10 of WOT today. Read plenty during the holidays.

Good luck, it was the worst, slowest most boring book in the series that I can remember.

We listened to this series on Audible a few years ago. We enjoyed it enough

Oooh… that looks interesting.

I finished Red Rising last week and been trying to find something else to read. I am leaning heavily into this: The Bloodsworn Saga

Currently reading books from this series:

It is sort of a star trek new generation, except it is on a warship with a fleet of warships, fresh from a war that is displaced to another galaxy.
The REAL interesting thing is the religious element to this series. The characters in this book series all have strong religious feelings (either atheist, alien, christian, humanist, Jewish, Muslim etc etc) and it lends a fresh perspective from each of them on their troubles.
All in all it is a sort of study of how people could possibly react in these scenarios with religion as a personal motivation.

I listened to the first four Bobiverse (Dennis E. Taylor) books, they were great, loved the exploration and intrigue…but the 5th book. I’m a quarter in and its so boring.

They go on and on about the rights of Digital Consciousness, manny’s (mannies?) not being allowed everywhere, the political group faith, etc etc, I stopped, its like a soap opera, not at all like the first 4 books. Maybe it gets better later on, but its a slog I want to go through.)

I feel exactly the same about the books. But the 4th one (which one did they go into the big AI planet?) started boring us. Ray Porter is one of my favourite performers though!

Yeah, same page here. The 5th book feels like a big setup for a 6th book, and if as I listened to flybot, I got the impression that it, too, is all setup for a new Big Bad. Hopefully the 6th book gets us back on track!

Interesting… seems to be resounding that it is a good series at the very least.

Added to Wishlist.

I’ve finished the first book in The Bloodsworn saga, The Shadow of The Gods. The book ended on a major cliffhanger and transitions perfectly into the second.

So naturally I am now reading The Hunger of The Gods.

I just read “Die Tas” by some 18 year old snot nose kid way back in 1996  Rediscovered in the school year book.

Translation by AI:

THE SUITCASE

The airport is a beehive of tourists and businessmen on their way to who-knows-where. The man with the sunglasses and light brown coat fits neatly in among the businessmen. He even has a black suitcase in his hand. Yet he is trying to hide something, I can feel it. I follow him. This might just be rewarding…

At a safe following distance, I spot him again. He is busy picking up his ticket at the counter. He opens his suitcase, surely to get his wallet or credit card. My eye catches something inside his suitcase. It’s a plastic packet with a whitish powder inside. Drugs? Must be. I tail him, but my safe distance was clearly too safe, because he disappears into the tunnel to his plane. I run and arrive just in time to slip onto the plane with the help of my police badge.

The plane is now at a safe altitude and I may finally leave my seat. The suitcase, where could it be? The plane is jam-packed and everyone looks the same. Wait, there he is, seat eighty-seven. His suitcase is on his lap. (The drugs must be in there.) There are just too many people here. What if he pulls out a gun when he’s confronted? I will wait until we land.

At the Berlin airport, the man looks very hurried and evades me again. At customs, I catch him.

“What is in your suitcase, sir?”

“That has nothing to do with you, it’s a family matter.”

“Oh so, the whole family smuggles, hey? This sounds very interesting.” I grab his suitcase, open it, and pluck the packet out.

“What is this, sir?” I grab him by his throat.

“My brother,” he chokes.

I laugh and look at the packet. “Johannesburg Crematorium.”
