i watch a shit ton of shows but these ones (parallels the real world the most) are the ones that i feel people can learn or relate to

eg. like bsg always had ethical, political, philosophical, social themes or breaking bad how a good guy went bad cause he was dealt a bad card etc.

There are so many great series that didn’t make the list*. I defined “Jan’s top TV shows” as shows I’ve rewatched a lot. BSG is the exception to that rule, but I’ve rewatched several episodes, consumed loads of BSG-related media, and followed my favourite actors’ careers from there to other movies, shows, and even the UN. It had to feature.

* Examples of great series that didn’t make the list: Band of Brothers, Game of Thrones, Angel, Buffy, Stranger Things, all the Stargates, all the Star Treks, Supernatural pre-S8, Mr. Robot, Halt & Catch Fire.

I found How I met your mother to be a great show, until the last season. It felt like they shoehorned in a ending because the show had somewhat over extended it’s stay.

As for my top 5 I hardly watch live action so I split it into two lists… In no particular order.
