Which Games Haven't You Finished Despite Loving Every Minute of It?

Last week we had the thread What game did you finish despite not enjoying it? this week it’s the contrary question:

“Which Games Haven’t You Finished Despite Loving Every Minute of It?”

I think this happens far more often to us as gamers. We’re enjoying the game, having a great time actually, but then something new, shiny or different catches our attention.

I’ve got a fair list of games that I’ve enjoyed playing but still have yet to finish. Some of them are: Valkyria Chronicles, Styx Master of Shadows, Battleblock Theatre, Starcraft 2 HotS… and the list goes on.

Doom 2016, Alien: Isolation and Metro 2033. Really NEED to make a plan with these games

Alien Isolation is a great example, albeit only playing about 6 hours of it. I know, i know, I have a bad rap for not finishing games but as much as I adore this game I cannot bring myself to finishing it. The tension gets too much for me, though I love the setting, the atmophere. They really nailed the proper Alien vibes.

PS: It’s worth noting that I love the Alien franchise too.

Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas.

Damn Bethesda and their huge ass games.

yes yes, NV is not Bethesda but it basically is.

Hmmm I finish most games but there are exceptions:
Darkest Dungeon. Love the game but it’s just too long.
Dying Light. I put so many hours into the game and it’s just never ending.
Civilization® VI. Kept getting close to getting a victory and then I restart and because of that cycle I never actually finished it.

Skyrim
Shadow of Mordor

I’m sure there are others, but these 2 great games comes to mind immediately.

Skyrim. I got to the boss and then I turned back to do some more side quests like everyone says you should and then I never made it back to finish the boss afterwards.

Oh, too many to count off the top of my head. Some recent standouts:

  • The Last of us
  • Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
  • Doom 2016
  • The Witcher 2
  • Hollow Knight
  • Divinity Original Sin
  • Batman Arkham

Wow, ya… I was thinking “I can’t think of anything”, but it other’s comments reminded me

Skyrim
Fallout 4
Alien Isolation
Witcher 3 Blood and Wine expansion

You have to finish The Last of Us! The rest can wait :smirk:

The Surge
GTA V

For some weird reason for me its like how Wyvern said “i don’t want it to end!”

I basically stop playing a game because i enjoy it so much i dont want to stop playing the game due to it being finished… yea weird logic

Thank goodness its not just me!

I was actually contemplating giving it another go. I get what you mean about the tension in the game so I decided, no, I can’t put myself through that again.

If ever theres an Alien: Isolation 2, sure!

I’m pretty sure I have some kind of brain condition. I rarely finish games despite actually loving them. It’s like one moment I’m absolutely loving a game, but the moment when I close it it’s like something breaks, and I’m completely over the game. Despite loving it I’ll just never finish it.

Some noticable mentions are:
DOOM 2016
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Far Cry 5
Subnautica
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

All these games I’ve loved and enjoyed every moment of playing them, until that one moment.

Nooooo! Hellblade’s ending is a big part of what makes the game so great! You’ll really need to complete it for the sequel.

Hellblade, not for lack of trying. It started performing really kak on my PC at one boss fight and never got better.

Titan Quest.
Torchlight 2.
Victor Vran

I love ARPG’s but for some reason I just get bored with some of them rather quickly. Not sure if it’s the setting or the visual style or both, but soemtimes after about 2 hours I have to force myself to keep playing and then I stop.

Sniper Elite Nazi Zombie Army (1&2). Never really had anyone to play with for long and i suck too much to finish it solo.
