I think it would be great for next year, but I dont think I will have enough time now to set it all up

I am studying for a big exam in December as well and I devote an hour a day to repetition of recall to cover all the information, piece by piece. It is part of my job to design and test software methods to help learners of all ages to remember better and I am applying that to my own learning and I find it is of tremendous help.

As I mentioned in @czc 's posting, repetition of recall actually changes the chemical structure of the brain. Connecting pathways in the brain get more dense the more you do it, improving recall as well as contextualization (connecting to related information) of your learning. It is important to realise that repetition of recall is not summarising something over and over or simply writing or reading it over and over, that is repetition of learning.

Repetition of recall is when you force yourself to recall the information over and over. Essentially beating a path through a wilderness by walking along it a lot. It is quite a paradigm shift. When you look at the front of a flashcard and you attempt to recall what the description of the concept on the back says before you look at it and you do that over and over, this is repetition of recall. Writing mock tests you set yourself is also another method.

If you have children at school and they are struggling to remember things, try and get them to set their own tests and use flashcards instead of having them summarise or colour their notes in pretty colours. It has made a big difference in my own daughterā€™s learning as well.

Been a bit scarce this last week or two cos itā€™s been a bit of a really kak week or two in the Redd house.

Itā€™s the standard end-of-year marking exams and assignments time for me (those of you writing exams - good luck to you all, but spare a thought for those marking your papers and donā€™t write anything rather than a page of garbage if you donā€™t know the answer  ).

Kid Redd is in the middle of her Matric final exams (and I promise you, it is almost as stressful for her parentals as it is for her!)

And then on top of that, my mother-in-law was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 10 days ago. She has a 10cm tumor and a bunch of smaller ones all over her reproductive system. We somehow managed to get her seen by one of the best gynaecological oncologists in the country last week, who scheduled emergency surgery to try and remove as much of it as possible later today already. Sheā€™s going into surgery in about 2 hours time.

With her sister living in Australia and no significant other in her life, my wife has been a rock taking care of her mother. But I can see sheā€™s bottling a lot of emotion up at the moment. This disease is insidious and evil.

Any prayers, thoughts, wishes, superstitious rituals, blessings, karmic goodness points, and/or plain old good vibes you have to send her, and anyone else you know fighting cancer, would be appreciated.

And if youā€™ll pardon the language: fuck cancer, fuck it with a rusty fence pole.

Screw cancer indeed! Goodluck @GregRedd

My wife and I are currently watching this documentary.
I have to warn you guys that they are challenging some deep rooted beliefs, itā€™s very controversial, and I donā€™t agree with all that they say, but itā€™s worth a watch. Have an open mind, and start asking questions

Thank you for all the wishes, support and prayers - they all helped. Surgery went as well as hoped. Some of the tumor had attached itself to her bowel but fortunately there was a specialist surgeon able to come in and detach it without any damage to the bowel. A little low blood pressure scare mid-way through, but other than that, her doctor sounds pleased.

Sheā€™s in ICU now for a couple of days, then a few weeks to recover with us at home. Then we start chemo to get rid of any lingering spots. Still a long road to go, but positivity will triumph.

You all rock and are definitely not kak!

Had a look at the list of people. Iā€™ve actually seen quite a few youtube interviews with some of those people on Tom Bilyeu.

Will check out the documentaries.

Good luck over there @GregRedd. Cancer is the worst.
