We moved to mayhem 6 last night, def did better survival wise - I still need to learn to be a little faster and remember to pick up my shield more often

I think they call it the Swiss Army Knife build for Zane, ie. it’s kind of an all-rounder. You can switch between which skills are active, and it should still work quite well.
I use SNTNL with augments: Bad Dose and Static Field. They don’t actually matter, because the SNTNL augments aren’t much use.
Barrier (with augments: Charged Relay and All-rounder. These are the best for your barrier. Charged Relay buffs speed, which actually buffs damage. All-rounder covers you completely when you pick up your barrier, so it’s almost like perma invulnerability).
If you want to use the Digi-Clone, then augment with Which One’s Real? and then any other one. That basically keeps them shooting at your clone, rather than you.
As for gear, it doesn’t really matter, because this build works for anything, and that’s why I’m using it. However, to min-max a little more, the biggest improvement for flowing gunplay with minimal action skill down time, you’ll want a Seein’ Dead class mod
You can find it in The Handsome Jackpot planet, and VIP Tower. As you spawn in, kill the named boss that comes out of the doorway to the right, in the foyer where you spawn. Might have to kill him a few times, but he drops it at least every 10 kills. I reckon my drops were every 4-ish times. It doesn’t matter which skills are on there. But if you can at least get attribute buffs for 1 or 2 guns, that does help a lot for damage.
To trigger Seein’ Red (blue capstone skill), you’ll want a Hex nade, it’s not for damage. It kind of triggers the shit out of that skill. Don’t know if it’s intended. But it means, virtually perma action skill up time. This isn’t needed though, and frankly, I don’t use it that often, and my actions skills are up most of the time, as long as their are mobs to shoot.
For a shield, I’d recommend a Transformer shield. It negates shock damage, and absorbs shots to regen ammo . Farm Killavolt for that. Stop-Gap is also a very tanky shield. You can farm it from El Dragon jr.
Weapons, 
, use the highest damage weapons you have.

So I decided to try and get back into the game with the new patch because I need a change of pace, but now I can’t seem to play at all anymore.
It keeps giving me this error:
EpicAccountId: You do not have any debugging symbols required to display the callstack for this crash.
I have found posts on Steam forums saying going offline and back online fixed it, but it didn’t work for me. I haven’t tried reinstalling yet but I’ve seen posts about it not working either. It seems to be a UE4 error and not a BL3 error but other games I have using UE4 run fine.

I don’t know how to do that with EGS.
I did download Unreal Engine via EGS now and also activated 2 factor authentication and now it seems to work again. Too bad my melee build is still weak.

My game is broken again. I don’t know what’s wrong. I keep getting that same error. Before it went into the game at least but now it crashes after the splash screen.

Penn (and Teller)'s voices are in BL3. Was playing and I heard the voice and was like… what??? And yes, research did indeed confirm that he is in it
