I’m glad to say that my order is cancelled and money returned. So I bought the game digitally.

The review embargo is lifted, and as @Wlad says, BIG numbers coming in… Only going to link the two aggregators here - go read reviews directly from their sites if you’re so inclined - I don’t want to risk spoiling anything for anyone…

metacritic (PC)

Currently at 96 metascore from 26 critic reviews - 12 of those are perfect scores!:100: All 26 reviews are positive.

OpenCritic

Currently rated “Mighty” with the average at 97 from 79 critic reviews. Again, there’s a 100% positive rating for the game from all reviewers.

Don’t know if pre-loading on Seam is worth it, since it usually takes longer to decrypt than to download, but I guess it doesn’t matter I won’t be able to play until Friday night at the earliest.

I’ve come this far without watching or reading ANYTHING about this, would be pointless to start now.

I am NOT a souls player, my reaction time is bad and tolerance for punishment for my mistakes is pretty low but I pre-ordered this anyways.

I am desperate for a good new open world game.

I also have bad reaction time. It’s why I struggle with certain kind of games. For instance I couldn’t do Sekiro because you have to have good reaction time. The Dark Souls games are slower and it’s more about learning the moves of the enemies. When that clicked the games became amazing.

But yeah, you will have to have a high tolerance for punishment. :stuck_out_tongue:

You and me both. Sekiro is too much for me. I can’t react that fast to parry timing. Never happening.

Yeah, I think we’re all in that boat, not sure if the reaction times are directly related to age (though I’m sure it plays a part). I love Sekiro and can appreciate it for what it is and what they were trying to do, it’s just not for me.

But a more Souls-like experience is more my flavour. I have never really gotten frustrated with a Souls game, nor do they make me rage or get me angry. On the contrary, I find it rather relaxing and methodical.

I expect some 7 point reviews from all the hyped launch day players. 7 things worthy of highlighting. They can be good, they can be bad. What it will never be, is an equally balanced or average score.

I really liked the parrying and countering in Sekiro, but the thing I liked most in it was the stealth. I’m guessing this game won’t have any stealth (I’ve not watched any footage) but maybe it has something else I’ll enjoy.

Still more interested in Horizon personally, but at least Elden Ring is actually available on PC immediately.

I’m contemplating if I should quickly hop over to New Zealand and see if I can play.

Wowee… this game is going to be a ride.

Created my character, and did the tutorial section. It has some game-changing elements that just make it so cool.
