Thanks for this suggestion. I did do the calibration thing the first time I did a test drive but definitely think I need to go back in and make some adjustments.
Is there a shortcut to access the wheel settings without having to reset the car to pits and the reset it again to get out each time?
Also, I had my first two races last night. First one went well, started 8th and finished 7th with just the one incident. Then came my second race and I started 8th again and most of the people in front of me all crash into each other so I move up very quickly by passing them, only to have the guys in front all crash into each other at the first corner.
This time unavoidable. So crash into the car in front of me and get 4 incident points just there and then. Suddenly I was last as I couldnāt go forward because the car I crashed into was right in front of me. Some people disconnected luckily.
But suddenly my brain decided to think about where I should brake. And suddenly I didnāt know how to drive anymore. I got so angry with myself. Struggled to keep the car on the road because even though Iāve driven around there so many times before this race I suddenly couldnāt figure out how to brake right anymore. Then with a couple of laps to go something clicked.
Suddenly I figured out how to handle iRacing and this car. I kept it slow just to finish everything but I feel much more confident now. Will try time trials again later today if I get time. But yes, just like with F1 2019 something finally clicked.
Any of you have an issue with me putting your iRacer names in the thread? Have found a stats banner tool that Iād like to post up to help keep track of everyoneās progress.
Well done on pinging C class dude!! Iāll have to get my ass in gear as Iām still in D class. Havenāt had the time to properly sit and do some D class races.
For the Mazda Iāve only changed the brake bias on the car. The rest is all standard at the moment. I donāt think Iām that good with the car setups so at the moment only focusing on driving.
Screw it. Next race Iām starting from the back. Last two races I was taken out and had to be towed. This last race, I was taken out twice! Once right at the start, just after the start the guy next to me crashed into me. Then after being towed I start up again and shortly after a guy went into the back of me.
I just had a pretty exciting race! Rather than qualify in the back and focus on safety, I went in with the mindset to place well. So I qualified in 10th
But after 15 laps, a few pretty good overtakes, and a lot of luck, I ended up 3rd
I feel like I want to move up to something faster, but will probably wait for the next track to unlock in the series before I move on.
Yeah iRacing is a fickle bitch. The one day you have great racing, the other you get taken out.
I only had time for one race last night, and after getting away rather well, I had smooth racing for about 5 laps without any issues or incidents. And then the damn guy that was in front of me took another racer out, that guy went off track and joined right in front of me. I slammed into him with enough force to completely damage the steering on my car and effectively end the race right there. It sucks, but it happens.
In all honesty I went to bed last night feeling dejected. I had severe buyerās remorse.
I currently have about 10 hours game time in iRacing. A lot of that time was spent on learning to drive better and to consistently get good times. Iāve watched videos, learned the intricate details of the track and did my utmost to do well.
During races I made it my priority to stay out of the way. If someone came from behind, I made space for them. If I was getting to close to someone in front of me, I slowed down.
But then I could only manage a constant 57 seconds per lap. Most people outqualify me and I watch you guys doing so well and lapping 2 seconds faster than me and I kept thinking that Iāll work on it. Iāll figure it out.
And during the races no matter how careful I was people would crash into me and take me out.
I bought two years of this. All I can do is continue practicing and hoping I get better because I clearly have no talent for this kind of thing, no matter how badly I want to have it.
Oh well. Tonight Iāll focus on finishing F1 2019.
