I watched your one race. If I can offer any advice:
try going slightly easier on the brakes, you seem to brake a bit longer than needed
work on corner exit, together with the above, once you hit the apex, try start exellerating. Also I don’t mean nessesarily foot hard down, but try roll onto the throttle. I find hitting the apex and coner exit is key to a fast lap.
Hope that helps, I’m no expert but that is what I have been working on.
I can completely understand the frustration you feel. There are luckily a lot of things you can do to improve and enjoy it more, better understanding and usage of the brakes, knowing when to start accelerating within the corner etc. There are many things, and we are all here to help you. None of us are experts by any means, but some might have some insights into what we’ve done to improve our own lap times.
As for other cars crashing into you, well, it is the rookies, and it will happen. I haven’t had the smoothest racing experience in iRacing at the moment either. Been taken out rather frequently as well. And I don’t think it is always my fault. It just feels like you are an idiot magnet some times. But the racing does get better. On higher classes and in different series, the racing is much more smoother. Sure, there will still be people making mistakes and accidentally taking you out, but that’s just racing. Some are lucky, some are just wrecking balls.
Don’t for one second think that driving at 57 seconds make you way too slow. I’ve been in many races with people that can’t even make it under 1 minute, let alone 57 seconds.
I think there is no real one-size-fits-all strategy to being better and enjoying the racing more. But know that we are all here together with you, as a team, THE MIGHTY RACING RHINOS!!! And we all are on this journey together to next year compete and, hopefully, complete the Le Mans event.
@Solitude, what wheel set do you have again? Was it the G920?
Plan, just give me a heads up a little before you do the registration so I don’t miss it like last time . @DieGrootHammer, did my registration referral work for you?
Nope, sadly it doesn’t look like it: iRacing Credits = $0.00
It’s no worries, we know for next time to share the love when someone else registers. We’re going to try with @Deadlypinecone and see how it goes.
The reason I asked about your wheel is that I read something about some of those G920s having a reall hard to press brake pedal, and that it’s difficult to get full 100% braking levels from it. Something about a hard rubber stopper inserted in the brake pedal spring mechanism to give it a “realistic” feel. Lot of people were saying that they took it out and got much better braking response. Maybe part of your braking issues are related to that?
@Deadlypinecone joined? Yay! The more the merrier. That’s awesome news. And I’m glad that @GregRedd got his credit now.
@GregRedd, luckily you can set the brake pressure in the game. I changed it in F1 2019 too. And nah I’m pretty sure it’s just because I’m not good at judging how long to break for and for how hard.
I will start playing on the next track after our F1 2019 race this Thursday. And will finally finish the single player tomorrow.
