Sorry to hear that @GregRedd. Hehe and sorry about my out of the norm aspect ratio.
So Hungary is officially my favourite track. Won the two multiplayer races there and did my best event qualifying there even though I had troubles with the AI being in the way again. I will definitely have to up the AI.
Eventually! I have eventually managed to get a video of the Race Highlights from Hungary uploaded to them there YouTubes. It’s not as I wanted it, has the dodgy music that comes with the clips still in place, Soli’s car still looks squished, and there’s no customised text. But it’s there.
I still haven’t quite figured out what the problem was. Hopefully I will eventually.
Okay, so I’ve sort of narrowed my issues down somewhat. The biggest irritation with the clips that the game produces is that they are created as .webm files. Neither of the video editors I’ve got to work with (Premiere and Vegas) accept importing of .webm files so I’ve been having to convert the clips first before importing them into the editor. All the converters I’ve used are kak (and I tried a lot of them!). They either have fixed presets that force resolution changes (that’s why Soli’s clips are so out of proportion); or they can’t convert from .webm files; or they produce converted files that are frikken huge (I think that’S a big part of issues I had with making the Hungary video - @Oltman’s 308MB clip got turned into a 3.6GB file, for example!); or they convert poorly and create corrupted files (sometimes I was getting audio only files, sometimes heavily pixelated video with no audio, etc.)
Anyway, I think I’ve found a converter tool that I can use that seems to give consistent and decent results. I still have to do each clip individually, and it’s a bit slow and CPU intensive, but it seems to work and produces reasonably sized .mp4 files, in the right proportions.
I’ve redone the Hungary video using the newly converted files. Have a look and let me know if it looks okay. @Solitude, I can insert your widescreen clips letterbox-style (like I have in the video) or I can do it full-screen but will then need to crop off the overflow bits on the left and right. Which would you prefer?
(Put the new clip on my Grizzled Geek account to avoid messing around with the views and stuff on the MEW Channel)
I have looked at FFMPEG, but not in too much detail. I have access to licensed copies of Premiere and Vegas that I conned the boss into covering, so need to use them as much as possible in order to justify having them
And Handbrake FTW! That’s the one I landed up using in the end
Yeah, he pulled a perfect pit maneuver on me. Chop.
At least Soli’s highlights were a little longer than @DieGrootHammer’s recent 20 second ones .
I was actually surprised at how well it went with the clips to be honest. It’s literally the first file in my list and I just wanted to see if the new video would work without the clip sounds. I didn’t even bother using a different file for the second half, just copied the first and pasted it in. Kismet.
I’m also looking forward to tonight’s races. Spa is a really nice track I love driving on, and Monza can be very fun and chaotic with that first corner complex and the long straights.
Although when I was testing a multistream service last night, I seemed to have lost every bit of my already limited skills Don’t think I managed a single clean lap of Spa in 20 minutes. So tonight could turn out to be a bit ugly for me at least.
Remember please to accept the change proposal in your in-game mail BEFORE we open the lobby tonight. Only change I could make was to Qualifying - from Short to One-Shot. Should still help cut the time by about 30 mins.
So we should have Lobby open after the change proposal has been accepted, 1st Race @ Spa from as close to 8PM as possible, 30 mins Practice, One-Shot Quali, 25% Race. Then a 10 min break before we repeat the same on Monza.
Now that I’ve got a Twitch video up, I can make Twitch clips Here’s one of my many failed attempts at getting through Eau Rouge at speed…
On the subject of multistreaming… in my testing last night I managed to stream at 720p/60fps to Mixer, Twitch and YouTube simultaneously. I couldn’t monitor the different streams live so honestly don’t know what the live video quality was like or what sort of delays there were on the various platforms - really just wanted to see if it would work. And it looks like it did.
Checking through the VODs now, the video quality looks pretty decent on all three. Not seeing any stutters or screen tearing, and the game audio is clear. Hoping to be able to do at least one more test before tonight with my mic and Discord active to see if I can get that audio into the stream. And maybe even setup a Facebook page to add onto the streaming sites as well. If I can get that right, then the last bells and whistles stuff would be adding a Discord overlay that hooks into our Race Radio channel and shows who is talking, and then an overlay that shows the chat from all of the sites on the screen (but that may make it a bit cluttered.)
I am a little worried about what the impact of all of that is going to be on my PC, especially when I connect to the game servers as well. Hopefully the first practice will tell me. If it does cause the game to lag or stutter, I’ll stop the streaming thing before the first race.
