Luckily I don’t have the opportunity of driving into people yet as I spend way too much time exceeding track limits and getting 3 second penalties.

I used to really suck in online races, but then I started spending more time racing AI in Career mode and Grand Prix mode. I started trying to rather restart a race than to use flashbacks, because I realised that I’ll poke my nose into a non-existing gap, and then just flashback to before the crash. Not using flashbacks thought me a little bit of racecraft, and patience. I now know which corners I would want to be on the inside/outside, which corners to brake early, which ones I can brake later, which ones you can try 3 wide (very few of those), and of course which corners are no-no’s for overtaking. Obviously a real life racer will behave slightly diferently, but you do start to anticipate player movements better.
A motto I try to remember whenever I’m racing is that in order to win, you need to finish. It’s not always as easy, because we’re all hardwired to win…

Drivers, restart your engines!
After the server shenanigans from last week, I have reset the MEW league again, and have sent invitations to everyone to join the new league. The league will be using from next week is called The New MEW League and the access code (in case you don’t find the invite in your in game mailbox) is CM#_MLKWZZ. Even if you aren’t able to drive next week, please do make an effort to join the new league before the race so that your AI substitute driver can race for you.
I have disabled AI entirely, and increased the AI substitute driver level to 70 (it was 40). All other league settings should be the same as prior to the French Fiasco.
And the 13 races we still need to complete for our season:

I dont think I have ever been this nervous with a lead in anything before! The talent in this group is growing and I have been lucky in a few races. But now luck will have nothing more to do with it!

Put it some laps with the driving line off. I’m fairly happy with Sector 1 and Sector 3. It’s just sector 2 that I’m losing time on. But all in all not too bad with the driving line off. I realised I don’t need it as much as I thought.
