MEW F1 2019 League Races [MEWRL]

I’ve been wanting to comment the whole day but have had all kinds of crap at work.

It feels awesome to have won. But I do have some points.

  1. @DieGrootHammer drove with all assists off which is crazy. He is also not used to the slower AI. He is leading this league for a reason.
  2. @oltman is on almost the same level as Hammer. And I’m pretty sure he would have won if he didn’t make space for me right at the start. Haha I didn’t realise he was that close next to me. Thanks @oltman.
  3. @GregRedd and I are at the same level. Our times are super similar. I was only a couple of milliseconds faster than him in qualifying which put me at the front of the grid because of Hammer’s penalty.

Watching a little bit of @oltman’s stream of last night made me realise that I want to record my gameplay too. I watched him set fastest laps when it looks like he goes through corners much slower than me. It’s all about slow in, fast out. Something that I still want to master.

My big goal was to not make any mistakes and stay on the track and that went rather well. Next big goal is to learn more about setups and use a customised setup in the next race.

Guys, any objection to us starting at 8:30 on Tuesday? I have thing on at church that ends at 8. Pretty please?

I’m fine with it.

:+1:, but only if you slip in a prayer for a Greg Redd victory while you’re there.

Haha, I will see what I can do, pull some favours :joy:

Yeah I’m fine with it too.

I just got an email from Vodacom that they will be working on our fibre infrastructure tomorrow. I hope they’ll be finished by tomorrow evening.

Everyone ready for tonight?

Ready? Not by a long shot. But I’ll be there, blocking LAURSEN, ROTH and the rest of the AI chops so that the rest of you have enough space in the front to race among yourselves. :grinning:

Don’t forget - 8:30PM start time tonight so that @oltman can get his dose of divine intervention. Don’t anyone go opening the lobby too early.

I did a couple of time trials at Spa over the weekend and it went fairly well. Looking at the ghosts of other drivers I can see where I go wrong but I haven’t figured out how to fix it yet. My problem is definitely the braking. I’ll persevere without ABS though until I get it right.

I think my main focus tonight will once again be to not make mistakes and hopefully finish without spinning out. I’ll become more daring once I can fix my problems in single player.

Nah if you aren’t there then no race. These things happen. I was expecting ours to be down since they were doing maintenance today.

GYeah, I’m with @Solitude - we’re a small enough group to be able to postpone our races when stuff happens. I’m free again this Thursday, so have no problem doing it then.

Soli, is your internet definitely back anyway? @DieGrootHammer, you okay with a delay to Thursday? How’s your holiday plans for then?

Sorry guys I have tonight only for this week. Tomorrow morning I’m leaving for the Bush and will only be back on Sunday. So I won’t be able to do Thursday. But I’m still far ahead so I’m willing to let my AI drive, or we can do an online lobby training session tonight.

I’m fine with a lobby training session. Should be fun. My internet is definitely still working.

Should we do it at 8 again?

Yeah, that’s what I thought. Appreciate that you’re okay with us running on Thursday, but still not lekker that you won’t be there.
Do we even know yet whether @oltman will be available on Thursday anyway?
@Solitude, when do you leave on your trip?

I ask because I’m thinking of proposing a radical plan for us. I’m sitting here having a wonder about how and when I’m going to make the time to put my Hungarian GP Preview together, and realizing that back-to-back GPs are pain. But, that led me to my proposal…

What if we do our own little mini back-to-back next Tuesday? Set the practice times as low as possible, change to one-shot qualifying, and then do the Belgium race, followed, after a 5-10 minute break, by the Italian race? If we start sharply at 8 we should be finished by 10:30-ish.

Thoughts?

I’m fine that with that. I’m flying next week Thursday. You guys are also welcome to continue without me. My return flight is on the 22nd.

So after all that, I’m the shmuck who can’t get online. It clearly wasn’t destined to be tonight.
