Kia Cerato. 2012 model. It’s surprising but apparently with my luck something like that would happen to me.

Bullshit, you have awesome luck, so shoooosh it happens.
Moenie lat ek soontoe kom net om jou gat te skop nie

what went wrong?

I’m still waiting on my cars diagnosis

thats a pretty fair price, might as well get the cambelt and waterpump also replaced while they’re at it.

Adulting suck hoor

It’s a Kia. I see your problem.

The cars are generally fine, unlike the bakkies you use

Bearing damage on the cambelt side, damaged internal engine parts. Don’t know yet why but the mechanic is looking into that.

With you having said that, I’m feeling better then

hectic… I’m terrified of my timing belt snapping

Shouldn’t the service people see these kind of problems when they service the car?

I had a problem with my previous car where the engine block had to be replaced. Also cost a lot.

and thats why i work on my own car, dont trust no one

And that is why I take my car to the same mechanic - they dont bullshit and they know I know somewhat about cars

Most probably, but I guess not when they do a minor service. And my previous service was only a minor one, so I guess they never even bothered to look at it.

it gets tricky with cam belts. they basically have to dismantle the entire engine to get to it, so it’s not something that gets checked. that’s why they just recommend you replace it every 100k

Oh…see my car is already well over 130k, so might have been its time.

or every 5 years

ja normally you would change it on your 90k service

my car is on 13 years and 180k…
