I had a thread about that a month ago.
We just got told that they cannot do it right now : From an email that was received by one of my neighbours -
You would have thought so, right!? But noā¦thereās nothing they can do. Our latest email from them says it is out of their control. I guess they are tied into an agreement with ZTE and with ZTE unable to supplyā¦thatās it. Our only hope is to get more people to register their interest in Vumatel so that we can get an open platform line put in.
The problem isnāt actually hardware related (that mostly impacts MTNās cellular network) it is way worse. They can easily switch over to Huawei, Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, Corient etc etcās hardware.
MTN didnāt have the expertise to manage a large fibre network so all the management of the MTN FTTH network was contracted to ZTE (a massive chinese telecoms company with extremely dodgy past)
ZTE has ceased all operations due to the denial order which is for 7 years because of dealings with Iran and North Korea.
They hate everyone.
Mornings!
it feels so weird not having the hubby here and it hasnt even been a day yetā¦ its going to be a long month for me i think

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaai Soli!
hahaha ek weeti hey, ek wag maar om te kyk wat hy se as hy eventually op wifi of so is
It was also ICON this weekend. If I could attend anything this weekend, I would have gone there. Sadly things have kept me indoors the last while, which given the weather is maybe not such a bad thing .
Raymond E. Feist was at ICON again this year. Wouldāve given anything to meet him.
Iāve also been a bit AWOL. Sorry, folks. Kept as much of an eye as I could.
My mom went into hospital for a hip replacement, so the last few weeks weāve been trying to be as supportive as possible, making arrangements to make sure thereās always someone around to look after her while she gets back on her feet, and suchlike.
The operation appears to have been a success, so yay for that!
Hi everyone. Finally get some time to actually come and post here. Been busy with psychometric test the whole morning, and now my brain feels dead.
@SIGSTART glad to hear the operation went well. Good luck over there, and good to see you back here as well.
Work is crazy at the moment, looking forward to some down tme.
How is everybody?
Just rushed home to open up for the telscum tech - he has now gone off to check the line further down the street. So lets see what bullshit story they try and spin now
@SIGSTART I hope your mum gets better soon! remember get her moving as soon as possible - she will be sore and stiff, but it is worth it because she will barely notice a difference once it is all healed up.
If he attends ICON Again, you better go and take me with so I can meet him. He is my favourite author.
MTN (and most other network providers in SA) lack the expertise, finances and drive to manage themselves not to talk of an even bigger or more complex network.
Living in the NC is not always ideal.
The mindset of someone living in the city vs someone living here is (at times) unbearably differentā¦
What Iām trying to get at is: the town gets infuriatingly annoying!
This. Town. Triggers. Me.
