Morning, all.
We’re looking to host a small website for a business we’re building, and a colleague suggested hosting with Wix for ease of development. I don’t know much about web dev, but I know that all wix sites I’ve used before sucks. Is there a clever alternative I can offer up, that someone on MEW that is more knowledgeable can suggest? @Solitude or @SIGSTART maybe?

I keep seeing squarespace ads so that might be better than wix (never used either). Otherwise I would say wordpress with a proper template if you want to diy.

I mean WIX has improved over the years but as you already know, they’re okay for the person who just wants something to get by and do in a jiffy.
Check out SquareSpace and Webflow, if you can, try and outsource the dev work and make something custom.
Let me know and I will gladly help on the design end.

I’m not sure if they’ve improved over the past few years, but sites hosted on Wix, even though it was bought out by Google, did NOT rank well on Google’s search results.
Like was mentioned, they’ve got a good GUI for making something up for brochureware sites, but its not worth it at the cost of not really being searchable.

@Wyvern: Even if @MalicE was still alive (I haven’t seen him on MEW in ages!), it’s a little early for anything more than filling in a template. I will definitely keep him in mind for when we need something a little fancier!

My brother got his hands on a copy many moons ago, and bought a video unit to clean it up, since it was a copy of a copy of a … of a VHS. It was indeed painful, although the cartoon with Boba Fett’s introduction was pretty cool. Same studio that did the Droids cartoon.
